Yeah I'm pretty excited about this.

All we need is temps to stay low. The snowpack is nice and thick. As long as its a long slow melt, we could go on for a looong time.

Spring time rules here

2 weeks ago 18" at Eldora, 12" + at most areas last week, 12" at Vail on Friday, 14" and blizzard, (4" + an hour), at Beaver Creek yesterday, and today ANOTHER 19" at Vail. Life is GOOD.

No AND Yes

I put down earlier that my local area had closed but, I got to ride this past Sunday at Powder Mountain, Utah with a buddy and I'll be back again this coming weekend. VIP passes, and my two favorite types of beer: free and cold. The conditions were leftover powder that had set-up and was a wet powder consistency in the morning and by mid-day it was like a frozen margarita (slushy). Still, very, very fun to ride and the groomers were solid, too.

We had as much fun laughing and yucking it up in the parking lot as we did on the hill. There is much to be said for running with a posse of people who love carving, snowboarding, skiing, and the winter stoke.

We just had 2 ft of fresh tne night before! It turned sunny and cold now, by Sunday we should have the best carving conditions of the season!
Unfortunatelly, mountain anounced the closing on the 18th...

Interesting to see that as the numbers in this poll climb, the percentages are still about the same.... does this mean that 52% of the people responding to this poll live in areas with big mountains, lots of snow and a long winter???? Maybe the poll should be changed to something along the lines of who is still able to ride at his/her home mountain?

Stick a fork in it.

Vermont is just about done. Amazing what a week of warm weather can do. Killington had upward of 72 trials open last weekend with supposedly great conditions. They're down to 13 now--which amount to 3 top to bottom, bumped-up runs with several hundred people trying to get down them. Storage wax is coming out. At least I got the wife a great deal on a jacket during the spring sales.

Sun Valley still looking good.

Had great winter snow conditions yesterday morning above 7k feet.

Today all slush almost everywhere. They closed Seattle Ridge today for the season. Scheduled to close next Sunday. I was hoping they were going to hold out for another week but with temps like this it will go fast. Still great snow and coverage up high, but thin at the bottom.

Just went outside and in the valley - 5,600 feet, it was still 50F and not supposed to freeze tonight at all.

Stick a fork in it and turn it over, it's almost done.

Grand Targhee

Targhee snowpack is still good. Just did a three day weekend with dredman, Two Ravens, Big Dog Dave, Casper Carver, and notarealname (new Dave) and the carving was great. They're going to stay open through this coming Sunday, April 18. (Day 129 and counting...)

112 lift serviced (Whitefish, Fernie, Aspen, Targhee)
17 self serviced (Prior splitboard), but I count them as days too.

Enjoy Hawaii; my local attempt at surfing wasn't very successful...

The season is definitely not over out here -- we're getting hammered with late El Nino storms in Oregon, along with the rest of the West Coast. Mt. Hood Meadows just extended their season to May 15...they'll have plenty of snow after that, just not enough paying customers to turn the chairs.

This photo is from last Friday. I picked the right day to play hooky from work:

not quite yet-- going to Stevens Pass tomorrow to ride the morning, going to golf 18 holes on the way home at Echo Falls GC, and then once home from that - get the Serotta bike out for an evening ride before dinner - A great way to end the season..

Thanks guys.

Hit a tree while tearing through the glades at Breckenridge with some friends.
Got caught on a toe edge, tried to go down in a way so I would avoid the tree, but twisted at the last second and body was on one side, my board and feet on the other.
POP!
I knew instantly that something was severly injured, same feeling when my AC went out last year.

I'll be back on the snow before you know it.
I just wish I could have rode a little more this season.
135 days just isn't enough.

Sounds familiar, I tore mine loose in the same manner. I got back on the board too soon, I don't recommend that. 20 MCL-less years later I need a brace to carry the weight of the board on the chairlift

Heal well & get back on it easy.
