Rode the 187 Prior wcrm wide today at Keystone on firm groomers. Nice ride and works just like prior says it does. I rode it with mellow angles 45 front and 40 rear as more angle than that caused the board to wobble in turns for me. once I went down to those angles it was fine. I feel the board is too wide for me and would prefer something narrower. I had fun riding it and was able to handle it without a problem. It does ride much better than my Nidecker 183 Tornado-smoother and better edgehold. I can see why metal is better now. Of course I will demo some more metal boards to figure out exactly which one is the best for me before I consider buying one. I have demoed several metal boards before this one but want to try more. Excellent board just too wide for me and maybe too long although I was comfortable on it. I rode it with the sidewinder binding so it was a dual demo-day 2 on the sidewider. You can read my review on the binding section. This was the longest board I have tried before. I will keep prior in mind If I decide to purchase a metal board. Would like to try a Donek as well to see how it compares. Rode a couple of Virus boards last year at the Loveland demo and this board rides just as well as far as I can tell. Of course I am not that good of a rider anyway but I have ridden lots of boards over the years. Thanks to Bomber for the demo!

Just curious... how wide is that board?

The waist is 21cm. The narower one is 19.6 which would be better for me with size 26 boots. I had to demo the wide one because Bomber did not have the other one for me to try. I would prefer the narrower waist on a board that big.

Love the WCRM wide! I rode the latest gen 173/21 and older superwide 177/23...
I'm surprised that you could ride the 21 waist with 45/40 angles, with 26 boots? My boots are the same and I need about 55/50 to avoid the overhang...
As for wobliness at higher angles, are you shure it wasn't the effect of not being familiar with newly acquired sideways softness of the sidewinders? I can bet that's what it was...

Pokkis, who custom ordered couple of those, named them "Fat Jack"
Keep in mind that Prior doesn't shave the core thinner for the wider boards. So, the 21 is stiffer then the normal 19.5, while the 23 is plenty stif. I could ride it at 180lbs, but had to work hard.

I had a fair amount of board sticking out beyond my boots with the 45 and 40 angles. I was using sidewinder bindings which elevates me more than something that is low to the board. I felt I needed the lower angles to get enough leverage. That waist width is too wide for me on a board that big. I like the width on my Donek ax 172 but it is much turnier because of smaller radius and shorter lenght. Really liked the prior except for the width. I believe that board has a 15 meter radius. I still think the wobble was caused by binding angles as I had the same problem with my Burton alp when I rode it with steeper angles with td3 step ins. Again I am not that good of a rider and I don't get the board up at a steep angle when I carve but I enjoyed riding it. Good idea to make a wider board for bigger boots if needed though. Would like to try the 187 with the 19.6 waist. Don't really think I need a board that long?

I've riden that board a couple times @ the SES, and loved it!
I talked to Fin about it, and he didn't know that it was a wide board. I asked him about it after Jack's review, and last time I talked to Fin (about 1 week ago), he still wasn't sure... Fin rode it @ the LCS, and a couple days before that, and a couple @ the SES, and he didn't know it was a wide model. Guess this confirms it really is a wide board.
Honestly, I didn't notice the extra width. I rode a 183W as well, and found that very nice too. The 187 is just a tad longer (obvisouly) and likes bigger turns. I think I'm gonna hold out for a FLC for the variable side cut radius. Otherwise, hard pressed to find any criticisms of this board - it's simply AWESOME!!!
It's stiff, but not too stiff, responsive, holds an edge like a champ, and super damp with a good amount of pop. Speaking of which, of all the metal boards I've ridden, I find the Prior WCRM have the most pop (but I haven't ridden all of them). Good balance of pop and damp. Stable, easy to make various turns, but again I think the FLC will be a bit more versatile. If I could only have one board for the rest of my life, I'd be very happy with this one. mpp

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents that my Prior 2010 WCR Metal 173W has made an unbelieveable difference in my riding......I am from the Midwest on shorter narrower slopes and previously ran a 2006 WCR 173 narrow version. Obviously the metal makes the big difference but the slighly wider version has (in my very unexperianced view) made no negative impacts....
Quick on edge and holds like nobody's buisness........
A keeper and would refer anyone and everyone to give em a ride..
