LOADED BOARDS for SUMMER CARVING
Yes, it possible and even imaginable!
|
BAMBOO:
We are excited and proud to use Bamboo as our core material.
Structurally, Bamboo enhances the energy retention and rebound
of our boards making them even more Loaded.
They are stronger, lighter and more durable. Further, since Bamboo
is a grass, it is a more renewable resource, growing 10 times
quicker than oak. Bamboo continues growing after being cut--leading
to less environmental damage due to new growth and associated
forest fire hazards. It also allows us to reduce the toxicity
in the production of our cores. Hands down, it’s more fun
to ride on grass.
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY:
Our skate decks are built around the trucks and wheels in order
to create a synergistic carving system. Parsimony drives our design.
Achieving function in the most reduced fashion leads to better
and more beautiful product and also allows us to minimize toxicity
and promote sustainability.
Our construction combines aerospace/snowboard construction with
tried and true skateboard curvatures. Concave and Camber, a vert
lam Bamboo core sandwiched between triaxle fiberglass and epoxy,
functional shapes, and top quality components achieve lively composite
skateboards designed to skate a variety of terrain with enhanced
control.

Camber and Flex
• Camber:
The camber absorbs vibrations for increased control and is a large
part of the locomotion of the board. (high rebound bushings, as
well as the side to side movement of high rebound wheels contribute
as well and should be used in conjunction for maximum effect).
Pre-cambering the board results in a specific amount of potential
energy imbedded in the board. Flattening out the camber when standing
on the board implies that pressure equal to rider weight is pressing
back up. In technical terms, the board at this point is ‘dynamically
loaded.’ So where are we going with this? Picture this,
your riding down a hill with some good speed: you bend your knees
into your first turn, using the g-force in addition to your weight
to push down on the deck so that it’s negatively cambered.
As you come out of the turn (straightening your legs somewhat
for stability and drive) the board rebounds back at you with most
of the energy you pushed it down with. This energy can be harnessed—like
a race car accelerating out of turns for stability, and be reapplied
into the next turn, thereby harnessing and developing the energy
of your ride. Pumping.
• Concave:
• makes the board more responsive with increased control
• Compound contours stiffen the board for higher energy
potential
|
CLEAR SPRAYED-ON GRIP:
• doesn’t effect the flex of the board
• not too abrasive but still grippy
• can be scraped off and traditional grip applied if desired.
If so, apply grip in pieces so as not to inhibit flex
FLEX:
We currently offer our boards (aside from the hammerhead) in
numerous flex patterns for customized rides based on rider weight,
stance, and riding preference. Keep in mind that a softer flex
pattern will give you more control and tighter turns at a wide
range of speeds, but tends to lose stability slightly at higher
speeds. Stiffer flex means more energy potential and more stability
at higher speeds, but will not be as forgiving and lively when
cruising.
Form follows function, and while we hope you'll find them attractive,
these boards are designed to ride. |
