Well...New Orleans was a bit hot as it always is. The first weekend was awesome, with nice blue skies and the humidity was tolerable. However, second weekend was after a torential rain, and the humidity rose to skyrocket levels. It was unbelievably hot!

Rod Stewart, Arturo Sandoval, Harry Connick Jr, Jerry Lee Lewis, Branford Marsellis, plus a lot of local stuff. Not bad for $30/day. And the food - AH! Nothing healthy here, lots of deep fried and sugary stuff but it was excellent!

    Hi kids, I'm back

That's right, I'm back, but on the entire other side of the world!

You know that I got married a month or so ago and all is going well, but we also moved to London. So I'm now living and working in the UK as a means to a number of ends (one of which is affording to go to SES08 with my wife in tow).

So it's been probably at least two months since I had a good look here. Anyone want to fill me in?

You haven't missed much. Congrats on the move and I really hope you and Vanessa enjoy the "big OE"... Are you working yet? What part of London are you living in? And how many people in your flat ... 8, 10 or 12?

Yep, I am working. I actually had a job pretty much lined up before I came, so I started within about 10 days of landing. I am working for a company called CB Richard Ellis which is a very large international property firm. I am working in the Valuations department doing International Valuations, that is, anything where UK based money is buying commercial property overseas. Mostly we are in Germany and some of the emerging European markets. It's a lot of travelling, but it is good so far.
We are living in Putney and actually only in a flat with just the two of us. I know, it's pretty amazing that we don't have 15 flatmates, because everyone else seems to.
So hopefully it will be fun. We are planning on staying for 2 years or so, so it had better be fun!!!

Michelle, you have such an awesome life. Kiteboarding would scare the hell out of me, water makes me nervous...

But ... I'm going camping with the girls the weekend after this (my exam is next Tuesday), and organising a float trip as well - six girls and a cooler full of wine in a raft in the sunshine, floating down the Bow River for five hours. I knew I loved this city! At present the weather totally rocks, and I had a hot date with a total cutie last weekend - he's 34 (can you say cradlesnatcher?), but cute, smart, nice bod, and plays rugby. Does it get any better?

Really? I'm not scared....yet. I have a lot of respect for water but I haven't been afraid of this so far. We'll see how I feel after my lessons.

I want to organize something like this for the chicks on the forum. Anyone interested in Mexico in the fall? I think it'd be super fun!

you young girls are foolish to rule out the older men. we know what we want, we've been stupid and made our mistakes, and most importantly know how to treat you right! just ask Lindsay...

No you didn't. But you're married anyway so you're no fun

Turns out Calgary has quite the thriving rugby subculture. Who knew? I might have to go hang at the RFC bar on Friday nights ...

Not saying we are ruling out the older men....just seems there's not an abundance of them in ski towns.

Was just in Calgary last weekend. Turns out it has quite the thriving a-hole subculture. Seems like it's getting worse. At my hotel, someone had a Hummer H2 with 28" rims (28!!) and 35-series Pirellis. In the handicapped parking, with a temp handicap permit that I'm sure the hotel gives out to customers who require above-normal brown-nosing.

Who says I'm no fun? Just because I'm married doesn't mean that I'm boring!

This is my occasional rugby team. Very much a scratch team but a hell of a lot of fun.

Looks to me like your drinking team has a rugby problem.

Neil, I dunno what's up with Calgary these days. The traffic has got awful, and you're right, there is certainly a thriving constituency of a-holes. It definitely has a different vibe to the city that I moved to five years ago - I think a lot of people have been reading too much of their own press. I'd much prefer to hang at a rugby club than be poncing about on 17th drinking overpriced alcohol and pretending I'm something special. Another one of the things that I DON'T miss about the ex boyfriend. He loves all that stuff, and I never had time for it...

But still, the mountains call me, so here I'll stay for a while.

HOLY QUADS! Oh Dan, I'm coming to Australia for sure now!

Did we say you were boring? Allee just said you were "no fun". That's different than boring, that means us single girls can't have any fun with you.

    Omg!!

So nearly three months after I split with my ex, and two and a half months since he last spoke to me, he sends me this email out of the blue, saying how much he loves me and misses me and how unfair it is that we don't want the same things out of life, and how he is still beating himself up over it.

That's sad enough. What'e even sadder is that I actually don't care. I feel like such a b***h! So I sent him a nice email back, almost giving him permission to get over it and move on. Like, come on dude, it's been three months. Get out there and find your baby momma already.

    I think I should feel bad, but I don't.

Well that is better than thinking that you shouldn't feel bad but doing it all the same.

He just needs to realise that it's time to move on.

    hi

    i think its summertime business!!!

    here's a fun thought:

"Life is like a penis: when it's soft you can't beat it; when it's hard you get screwed."

    - From The House of God (written by dr samuel something or other... can't remember his last name LOL)
