Congrats! My GF is a RN (and a kickass one @ that too!). If you are able to relocate, I believe she was saying St.Marys in Troy NY was looking for some RNs with Seaton Health.

Gee thanks. You just go and remind me why I couldn't go to SES (for the first time in 6 years) this season. And I thought you were my friend!

As you're of the generation that was practically born with computer in hand, I'm sure you're already up on national hotspots for RN's.

However, may I make this observation 'bout greater Possum Pouch, esp. The City of Medicine, Durham N.C... (many other monikers but not for this forum.)

Duke Med School, Duke Med, big VA hospital, couple other hospitals - right next door to Chapel Hill - UNC Med School, UNC Hospitals (exact name escapes). Just down (Tobacco) Road, Raleigh, with very large Wake Med, Rex (now a UNC satellite), and a couple other hospitals.

But back to Durham - summer home of the American Dance Festival - a very big deal - Durham Bulls, a "major" minor team beautifully integrated into the town physically and culturally. And just down the road apiece, a "real", ahem, NHL team - not the Bruins, granted, but I'm told they play a very similar game. (What it Was, Was Hockey (?), but then we've been down that path before.)

Bull City also has a new performing arts center that's going gangbusters. And there are plenty of piedmont hills, and plenty of "kids", to ensure a thriving skate scene, or so I'm told.

There are major negatives of course. Summer heat/humidity are abhorrent. Winters are, sigh, mostly a joke. (But there's legit Ice Coast Boarding less than three hours away.) Wages, even for professionals, I'm sure don't match some major metros, but then neither does cost of living.

And for being smack dab in the middle of The 'Pouch, Durham's wide open, culturally and socially.

    Congrats again.

As you probably know, I attribute my current presence on the planet to two, super caring and super vigilant ICU nurses in Charleston. (And they were surfers, too...) Your profession has my unending respect and gratitude.

    Good Luck!

    BB

The Joint my wife is at is worth sending a resume to:Community Health Center of Franklin County

The pay is not top end, but good enough and they treat their employees very well. The cost of living here is low, great snowboarding within 30mins., big resort riding within an hour, great rivers, woods and hills, good music, art, and food scenes. The only thing we don't have is the ocean but you can hit that in a day-trip.

Haha, guess again. One her friends is Aisling, and her sister Fiona's close friend is Aisling as well. We had to give 'em all nicknames. Sweet Irish roses all.

    Wink

It's a nice name, though. Coupla years back, I met a woman from Derry named Caoimhe. Try pronouncing that!
'KEEvee' is the most common, evidently. Although, with that Derry accent, it was a bit different.

I play that one at every gig. Even did it for the Queen once.

Steve Earle, actually. Recorded in Dublin. Last time I was in Dingle, I was in a grand little pub called Dick Mack's, passing the guitar around with a couple of locals. I sang "The Galway Girl" and a woman says: "An' did ye write that one, boy?"
I said "Oh yeah, you bet".
She said "Sure, and I'm Queen Elizabeth, so I am."
    Try this:

She knew full well I was full of it.
