Pile O Doneks for sale by DONEK.com

Now that I have my longboards purchased and in route. I wanted to share the link to the vendor's sale post by Donek Snowboards http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulleti...mmer-Demo-Sale

Just in case those shopping for summer bargains in the "For Sale" thread missed it.

Admins. If this breaks some sort of rule for vendor sales, please delete my post without prejudice.

Just arrived , they both look really good, no issues I can spot. Light scratches, nothing that couldn't happen in a couple days of riding. Hand flex test, feel a bit softer than what I might have ordered but that is no surprise. Definitely softer nose, reasonable for those fortunate enough to ride in dry pow. In the PNW, probably not ideal. Only a true "Cascade Concrete" day will decide this for sure. At 400$ plus shipping certainly worth a try!!! FYI, 5 days shipping.

In other words, I love big boards , if you have some for sale, please let me know. Send photos with price and description.

    Hi Bryan,

That comment caught my eye as attempting to ride Mt Bachelor pow chop last year on an OSin 4807 was a total disaster. While I suspect my too far-foward center of gravity was at least part of the issue, I was eying the Hazelwood as a soft&hardboot board for PNW pow days (and for epic pow days there or elsewhere too) just the same, hoping the stiffer nose wouldn't take me for such a ride that the 169cm OSin took me on.

Just how soft did the nose seem to you? I'm ready to put money down on a Hazelwood or a Furberg.

Dear DrCR. I do recall the post. I wish I could have been there, I would have loved to ride with you and see the conditions and watch the snowboard perform. I would be in a much better position to comment on your dilemma.

With out having ridden either of the snowboards in question. I think the Furberg is definitely intended as a pure powder board. I agree with much of their design concepts. Large side-cut radius, taper, rocker all work well in deep untracked snow. Not sure about hardboot use or overall performance.

The Hazelwood would look like a good all around, big enough for the super deep, enough sidecut for carving on the soft groomers and available in much larger sizes. Made in the USA by a Bomber member doesn't hurt either.

So, I wake up and it is a foot and a half overnight after yesterdays 14" dump. I am on a Tanker 200cm or willing to give it's similar brother in shape and size the Hazelwood. I am happy to try the Furberg late morning to find out if it is going to shine. MAYBE then it would be present in the morning line up on a big pow day.

Me. I want displacement and hardboot performance in between the stashes. PS. I haven't ridden anything under 180cm for a very long time. I have occasionally wished I had a 210-225cm big gun on the super big dumps. Typically the 200cm does it all for me.

Are you looking at the 174cm Hazelwood? I would definitely jump on that for 400$ Both of mine are really clean.

Keep in mind I am 245lbs. EVERYTHING IS SOFT

    Additional thoughts

PS. I think the flex of the 4807 vs the Hazelwood is tricky. Different nose shape, very different side cut placement and dimensions. Flex vs bias of binding placement etc. This all adds to a very different feel on the snow.

I think either the Furberg or the Hazelwood would be a blast. Me? I would take the Hazelwood for better all around performance. If I insist on the very best powder performance I would put on a swallowtail.

Hope this helps and not further complicates your decision. I think you may want to give the 4807 another go at some point in the future too.

    What is your weight again?

    Bryan

    Bryan,
If you're in Mt Hood this week check on my boys. They're up there training with the park monkeys...

Hi Dave. I don't plan to be on the Mountain, although I am about 20 minutes from the airport. If you need anything (your son's) give me a shout. Hope they have fun!! Weather is on and off but the snowpack is really good.
