Am I the Only One who Doesn't use 5-Position Forward Lean?

I have never liked/felt comfortable with the locked/rigid feeling when I try to ride with the forward lean clicked/locked in on any of my hard boots. I've got Suzukas now and have tried the differant locked positions and even just the rear........yes edge to edge is quicker in any locked position, but I feel I got no recovery buffer...when things go bad I can't flex/absorb/dissipate the train wreck that's about to happen. If I'm not locked I can bounce/flex my way through most diggers or wana be jib rats.

    What am I missing?

I hear you. Since most of the time I'm riding in less than ideal ice-coast, grand-central-station conditions on pencil-thin trails with little room for error, I find riding my Deeluxe's in powder mode helps a big deal. I get a bit more forgiveness on toe-sides (leans forward from position three), and a nice firm edge for heel-sides (locks at position 3). Only when the conditions are super good and when I'm riding wider trails with plenty of room to play do I then lock them in place.

Ha! So that's what that knob is for on the Forward Lean! Powder Mode! I swear I learn something new every time I get on this site!
    Thanks Sno Surfer!

Three years and you haven't seen any of the threads on riding "Loose" in your hardboots? Really??

    "Loose" = Unlocked.

    Riding in "Walk Mode".

I knew the first moment I flexed the T700's and felt that mechanical stiffness that I'd put the BTS on them. Most worthwhile upgrade I've done!

    Hey Oldsnow,
    Ha, thanks for the visual......
Well until I broke down and bought a new setup last year my gear was over a decade old and the forward lean had stoped working so many moons ago on my old Raichle 234? boots that I hadn't even thought about it's function.

Hey Barry, use what works. Seen allot of discussion on the topic. Unfortunately the search functions are pretty limited right now at BOL.

Well, thanks for the encouragement......er, I think?

I been at this long enough to have learned two things:
1 - My head is attracted to hard objects.
    2 - I bounce really well.

    So I should be fine.......

Stiff boots, stiff bindings on an Alpine snowboard plate system can make icecoast conditions feel managable.

Or flexy boots, flexy bindings which allow you to get low and put your weight in the right spot...
