UPZ ATB boots not fitting TD2 bindings

Just got in some used UPZ ATB boots. Unfortunately they don't fit the TD2 bindings I also just got in second hand. The way the heel of the UPZ ATB boots is designed, they don't readily fit into the rear bail. They can be coxed in, but the front bail does not clip into place. I'm thinking I may have gotten in the large sized TD2 bindings, too large for 26.5 mondo (or at least, UPZ 26.5 mondo).

Thoughts on how to proceed? Can I simply get a shorter front bail and a thinner rear bail or go the step-in route? Or am I simply going to have to go for a different binding route for these boots?

I agree on the silly heel design. I like how they fit and ride so I just deal with it... I'm on the shortest heel bolt location on TD3 step-ins with size 27 UPZ RC-10 boots.

You can flip the heel and toe blocks around so the bails are offset towards the inside. You have to remove the shoulder bolts and flip the bail on the block as well. I think there's an alternate hole in the shoulder lug for the spring to sit at the right angle, can't remember now.

Do the ATB toe blocks fit in the toe bail? It's important than they not drag on the bail as the buckle is clipped, all the resistance should come from the lever clamping the boot, not friction of the bail on the toe piece.

You just need the wider bail. Easy fix.
