Bummer...I'll be out at the mothership in Redmond all week.

Will there even be any snow or should this change to a mountain bike ride?

apron's on, oven's hot! baking up some sweets for all my sweeties. yummy! sea salt this year.

now the boring stuff - remember to give everyone space out there. we haven't had a carver and carver collision in a lot of years. let's keep it that way, and we'll get a gold star!

gotta go, oven is beeping. see you weds morning.

How late is everyone going to be there? I will likely not be there until 2 or so.

    long day

icarve, most people stay until 4 or so. a few of us stay and get some night riding in. i think 8:30 is the record, but records are made to be broken.

Thanks for a memorable day. We had a difficult call that took a while. Looks like all of you left your signature on 16. I couldn't find any of you after 4PM, so I packed in in after 5PM.

    Same thing next year?

    good times. thanks trent!

tired. left arm is sore from biffing on 15 (?).

the binding/gopro mount footage is not that great. very shaky. disappointed. might try again like early weekend morning when the runs aren't choppy.

will try to post condensed footage soon. stay tuned.

windows movie maker sucks... must find a better editor.

used to be able to keep videos in a "media pool" so that you can reuse clips. not seeing that as an option. i have to reload the video. this is beyond terrible.

first off, disclosure... i had issues going down chair 2. the freshly groomed soft snow threw me off. also didn't feel 100% comfortable riding with an aluminum impaling bar. whenever i crossed into a trench, the thing would go SPROOOIIINNG. just knew it wouldn't look good.

i was bummed that the run on skiers left of chair 2 was fubardly groomed. that was going to be my safety.

this is me on skiers left of 2. had to skooch down beyond the crap to start turning. footage is a bit disappointing.

Yes! Thanks Trent for organizing, and sharing the tasty treats!

Was feeling really out-of-sorts when I woke up, so went back to sleep.. and ended up arriving more than "fashionably-late."
Turns out the snow was still pretty darn good from 4:30-8pm, and was very pleased to find a few people were still out shredding.

A number of lifties were intrigued, asking; what it was, how do we get so low, and how do they get one. I keep forgetting we're a novelty to the outside world.

    Highlights;
Was great fun following Joe down (7) after the skiers pulled their courses. Joe was more than halfway down the hill when I dropped in, and was so cool to see EVERY head on the lift turned over their left shoulder to follow his line.
Had a blast carving up the run under (5) and then the follow-the-leader and surfing the rolls on (3?) Hang-ten dude!

Of the (now four) times I've been to Afton, this was by far the best conditions, and the most fun I've had.

    tired!

wow, am i tired today! thanks everyone for coming out to play. i hope everyone had as much fun as i did. and a big thank you to all the early-risers/poor readers who beat me to the hill, but still let me get first chair. it's the little things that make me happy.

i was trying to feed off scuff's energy at the end there. my legs had nothing left to give. i was super happy when he called it quits a little before 8.

bonzo, you must've just missed us. there were 5 or 6 of us on 16 until 5pm. then a record moment happened.... powell1.8 won a wax race! at least i heard he did. i was too far back to see anything.

i'm uploading picts now. there were a lot of blurry ones. ugh. a few good ones too. might be tomorrow until i get done. but here's one of the best. erik, you're going to need to put tool dip on your ass if you keep turning like this! nice work.

    some footage from chair 7,

found a free video editor, VideoPad, but not sure if the output is all that great.

    lessons learned:
    • have people get closer to the camera; i.e. put their lips right on the lens.
    • put the camera where it can be seen.
    • jumping is cool.
