They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far.
A bit ironic really that my copy of your outstanding magazine arrived on my doorstep the same day as my free copy of Transworld magazine, courtesy of USASA (I would never pay for it).
If I had a second copy of "Carving", I would happily send it along to them to remind them what a true magazine is like. I have no interest in reading through endless adverts and articles on what some pre-pubescent sponsored rider has on his iPod nor do I want to read the fawning letters to Pros or hear about their drunken antics that are a pain in the arse for the poor people who have to clear it up.
So thank you for making this huge effort to give us something to actually read that doesn't say "Bro" or "Dude" every 3rd word! A beautifully produced publication, great pictures, great articles and a 'spot-on' foreword by JJA!
Keep up the good work!

What he said. My copy was a bit banged about by the shippers but no worries on that score.
I do have a (free) copy of Frequency which doesn't suffer quite as much as some of the other "press".
amazing quality!
Great job.
Thanks a lot for your effort Alex
My copy just arrived yesterday. Awesome job Alex. Thank you for all your time and effort. Also a big thank you for allowing me to be part of the photobook section. The Nakiska Expression Session starts tomorrow, so I will be showing off the mag to many of the participants. Expect more orders!

A great man once said; Do not eat the yellow snow, I repeat, do NOT eat the yellow snow!
How long should it take to ship to the East Coast? I ordered mine on the first and it hasn't arrived yet, though It may be that things take a bit longer to arrive from Greece? Can't wait to check it out.

any chance of developing an online (pdf) version? i like e-mags. saves space, trees & transportation costs.
I don't think a PDF version will ever be an option for this annual publication. There is no real point to it since most of the info are already on the Internet. When it's printed, it is history. Not to mention that nothing beats the smell of freshly printed paper!! I am pretty sure that people who got the magazine in their hands will agree that a good old printed mag can never be absolete!!
Alex, Got mine this week. Fantastic job! Nice content and print quality is excellent. Looking forward to the next edition. Congratulations on making this happen!! Best regards, Tom
You did an Excellent job Alex. I'm honored that you put me in your first issue, thank you.
Norman
Alex - totally awesome job. Great pics and stories.
First, Alex deserves a HUGE pat on the back to achieve what so many have only talked about. As someone who has been at this for 20+ years, I can't tell you how many "beer" conversations I have had where we have all talked about how this needs to happen.
Alex has done it and done it VERY well.
I love the look and feel of this magazine. I actually consider it more a soft cover book due to its heft and content. This will live in our shop front area for years to come.
I also applaud Alex as I know for a fact he made great efforts to include everyone in the industry and keep this magazine fair and neutral. An important aspect considering the small family we really are.
If I had to give one addition I would like to see is a couple of technical articles on the various aspects of hardboot riding. And maybe a few pages for a buyers guide of a sort. Or at least a text listing of all the manufacturers in the industry.
And the shot of me next to my CNC mill, does in fact, make my ass look big.
Great job Alex, you have now joined the ranks of a "doer" and not just a talker. Cannot wait for the next addition.

My Carving Magazine arrived a few minutes ago ... Great looking magazine !!!
I am surprised it arrived though as the one side of the very thin plastic packaging was completely torn open. Magazine is OK though and glad it made it to my house in Hood River, OR. Might be a good idea to use slightly thicker plastic ...at least for overseas shipments. Thanks for an awesome magazine.
It does look like somebody opened it and took the magazine out to read, so maybe one of the postal workers was a Carver and wanted to see what all the fuss was about !!!! If that IS the case and it did not rip along the way ...Can't blame him / her for wanting to see inside the packet !!!!! Just glad they put it back and sent it on its way for me to read as well.
Just Got My Copy........very nice well done
Just received your porno err ... carving magazine. Great job! Nice format, and the quality blew my expectations out of the water!!!

Alex....Great job! My wife casually said "were you expecting a big alpine mag"?.....I just finished my first cruise thru....It was great to see pics from atrip to Sugarloaf that I was on and it really personalized it for me. There is some great eye candy in here and I wish we had access to the product in Europe that you have. The USSA has slighted our sport and only the recreational, passionate rider can keep it alive and growing. I hope those of us on the east coast can continue to inspire others to learn and venture out to try something new. Way to go!!!
I am looking forward to many more issues

Alex, VERY impressive. This is not a magazine, it's what people call a coffee table book. Left out on the coffee table for all you visitors to enjoy. (Picture books about humming birds, natural widelife, etc.) So few people outside of our circle understand what we do. This makes it easy to show them.
Fit and finish is so perfect, it's hard to believe it's the first try. I'd like to give you input on how to make it better, but I honestly don't see anything you can improve. CLASS ACT Alex.
THANK YOU for printing this.

See ya all in a week, Scott
Amazing photos and articles there. Great to see European equipment that US riders would not have acknowledge of their existence. Hope to see other continents carving equip., riders, and communities/lifestyle like Asia on next release. All in all, great magazine. Congrat and Thank you.
I already read twice and passed on to a carver who rides with me. Not for long though.![]()
Received mine a few days ago. Thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Coin well spent. I will echo a few comments from above. Jack's Sugarloaf article made it personal as Powdahbonz had said. That was a fantastic trip. I would be willing to chip in an extra couple bucks next year for sturdier packaging. The postal service was not as gentle as one might have hoped. Obviously not carvers. ;-P
Fat guys heart step-ins.
What a beautiful piece of work! I am really excited about it. The best thing is: We can all be proud to be part of the sport that is so perfectly and passionately presented in this magazine.
Where can I sign up for the 2012 issue?
Opening an oyster
Thanks Uwe,
I really appreciate your comments and most of all I am glad you like it!!!
The Issue #2 is already under construction and judging by the content material I have so far its looking very good.
The plan is to have issue #2 out by the end of October maximum beginning of November so everybody can start their season officially with magazine in hand. Of course that does not apply to people that reside in tropical paradise!!!!
See you soon!!!
Hey alex,Tried ordering a copy and I get directed to a paypal site. If I had the email address for your paypal account and the total for the mag I will send it to you. Or someother idea ? Working on nice 2012 article will email soon.
