They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far.

Tinkler 175cm / New matching plate.

    Mike's newest short board.
    Complete with matching plate.

I was honored as the second rider on his newest plate system (185cm with the white plate)
Worked really well and is oh so clean!! (and light)

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the two black rods mounted on the front and rear of the middle board, and the one on the right? I'll assume they are for shock absorbtion. Where do you buy them, and how much are they?

"Snow Stix" are effective at both absorbing vibrations and tuning the flex of the boards. They are carbon fiber and were produced for years by Mike Tinkler. They are currently only available for purchase with a Tinkler custom snowboard. Mike has looked at bringing back Snow Stix for retail sales and has decided not to due to cost and liability issues.
The board on the far right is my personal board. Built originally for another BOL member and I bought it from him. It is my current favorite. All three of the board in the photo are actually "TNT" or split tip and tail models which works very well with Snow Stix. Mike's new board is inserted for Snow Stix and he did mention today he would have liked to have been able to tune the board on a couple occasions today.

Here is Mike's new short board with "Plate Stix" attached. I am anxious to hear Mike's feedback on this configuration.

As you can imagine, we get that comment allot on the mountain.

We field allot of questions in the lift line. Although we move pretty quick so it doesn't drag out very long. We often end up with "Stalkers" trying to figure out what is going on. Many of which are skiers. They often ask the best questions too. Fun to see folks get excited about the boards and alpine riding.

Mike rode it Tuesday without the "plate stix". We have at least another month to play on Mt Hood before the race camps start. We should be able to hear back about the out come. His newest plate hardware is working really well and it is super light. More to come.

Currently I think my new board will be a combination of the three boards in the photo. Just guessing right now, but something like. Narrow-18.5cm Waist. TNT , lower/shorter nose , inserts placed for his newest plate hardware, handle in plate, lowered/lightened plate (26th generation tinkler plate system ) with newest snow stix designed with plate integration and adjustment. Topsheet of my design on both plate and board plus a couple active options that have not yet been discussed. Hopefully be on it next season on the very end of this one. Might go a bit shorter for my steeper pitch days. Built for a 225lber (meaning I must loose at least 25lbs by next season) Bryan

Very nice, I always thought the BD was 173cm, 176 is different as well as the butterfly, and I know it's not an afterthought like the madds, it's part of the construction...so is it fatter at the waist also?
I've had two of these suckers and enjoy the rebound.

    Tinkler Sliding Plate

So Tinkler went with the sliding component actually being the plate. It's an option that most of the plate makers will have considered. I certainly did, and then discarded it on the basis of controlling the wear on the plate, especially the wear due to lateral forces between plate and pins and the necessity to keep the sliding portions away from the bindings.

If Mike Tinkler sees this can he comment or explain how he dealt with this potential issue, please.

I think you will see more of the results of the on snow testing in the coming months. Or, if you are up at Timberline you might see them in action sooner I was the first to ride his latest Plate system and I think it is going to definitely turn some heads.

I gotta laugh with this thread.... those that get the new gear can share with the rest of us.... and those of us that can't get the goods, take a place in line hoping that one day the board with move on to a new home!!!
