    Way windy

    John,
I watched lots of the snow get blown up to the top of the divide and over the other side. Switch back was awesome, and for the most part empty, until about 11. It was blowin' hard over ther even with the extra trees and lower elevation. All in all a really good day

Hey everyone, thanks for the love! I'actually doing pretty well, as it turns out ,I broke my sternum and seperated my shoulder. I made band pratice before going to the hospital and haven't missed work. The benifits of modern pharmacology are not to be taken lightly. Ice, Bigs and Ink: thanks for extracting me from my gear and picking me up. The next round is on me. As God is my witness, I'll ride again before this season ends.

    Jeff,

Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad to hear you're doing OK.

Stay medicated, get well soon and hope to see you on the mountain when you're healed.

Jeff - we were sitting down on a run and remarking how hard the snow was. "Wouldn't want to fall on this". Hope you heal completely.

Dooood, the clutch is there for a reason.

KK and I will be out for a bit early tomorrow. He can't wait to test Ms. Kate's first race board...the 136 Rossi. He waxed and mounted it up last night. First ride will be up 2 to get into the wide open. Even with the winds. MUCH straigher scr than the Rookie 99 so this should be interesting to see how he adapts.

I decided at the last minute that I will be going to Loveland tomorrow bright and early. I'll be on my skwal and testing out my new GoPro! Hope to see some people there.

    Great Day!

Fought 70 mph winds getting around Denver and through the mountains and it was snowing when I arrived at Lovey, with the flags flying straight out in normal Loveland fashion.

Riding was sketchy at first, as the wind had drifted up the snow in places, so you might be riding in a foot of pow and by the end of the turn, you would be on clean groom. By 10:00am however, the weather totally changed. The wind died, the sun came out and it wound up being a stellar day (by Loveland standards). As the day progressed, the pow scattered and the runs were really nice.

Representing were Ice, Greenleaf, Scott, and McDowall on the Skwal and I met another hardbooter Brian who didn't ride with the group. By the end of the day, Fire Bowl was trenched, Drifter was ripped, Fire Cut was grooved, Roulette was anialated and then we took the short bus over to Switchback, after which there was no doubt the LCI had been there. Outstanding day was had by all and my teeth are sunburned!

Props to Ice and Greenleaf for the pointers to help me work my way back into the groove!!!

Can't believe I almost turned around and went home due to the wind...

The five of us went down Switchback three times, so on the lift ride back up after everyone else split, I tried to spy all 15 trenches on the run.

Overall a great day, though my go-pro fell off my board twice requiring a 15 min search and rescue the first time and 10 min the second. I'm thinking of a way to wire the camera casing to my binding (because I like the angle a lot), so if it does come off the mount, it will just fly around my feet till I stop. (I mounted it on the back of the board the first time and front the second.)

I'll be hitting up A-basin on Thursday!

Off work this week March 5-11. Will be riding at Loveland Monday March 5 and might alternate between abasin as well. I am going to try to ride most of the week days and might show up Sunday? Had a good day last Wensday riding with GV27 all mountain on lift 1, 2,8 and 4.

I'll show up tomorrow. I'll try to be in the parking lot by 8:30 and will look around upstairs before I head up and start by circulating on the top of #2. No new snow for a couple of days and a good wx forecast, so hopefully it will be good carving conditions.

Lots of fresh air on Saturday. Rode with Ice, PCDenver Brian and an old ski buddy - Eric. I'm trying to entice Eric to the dark side. I have a board he can use but it has step-in bindings. If I were to get some standard bindings, could he use his ski boots to get started?

yes, but... if the boots are too stiff, he could get his butt handed to him

Alternatively, he wears about a Mondo 27 - 28 boot. Anyone have some old boots that he could try?

I have my pair of 28 deluxoo's just for this purpose, red/blue bts, there is a little bit off slop in one of my frankenrivet repairs

Mario - the bindings I have are step-ins. Are these boots regular or Intec?

The are reg. If you have td 2 or later, I have heel and toe bails that you can use to make your step ins reg, let me know

I know you guys know this, but for all others out there step in toe bails are NOT the same as standard heel bails. If you make that mistake, it's baaaaaaddddddd news.

Hey, I'll be at abasin tomorrow, Thursday, unless Loveland pass is closed for some reason. Then I'll be at Loveland.

I come down from fort collins every Thursday and some sundays for anyone who wants to share a ride on I25 and I70 to abasin, Loveland, or keystone.

    John,

I definitely agree about the ski boots. When I got my first carving setup, I tried using my ski boots and struggled almost to the point of going back to softies. Then I found a set of Blax hardboots and Wow! what a difference! If Mario's boots will work, I have either a set of SnoPro Race bindings or Burton race plates and even a couple of boards Eric could borrow. Let me know, I'm planning on Loveland Sunday and always happy to support the sport.

Mario & James - thanks. I think this might work. The bindings I have are Raichle X-Bone step-ins so no Frankenbomber would work.

I'll see if Eric plans to go up on Saturday. If so, I'll let you know and maybe we can set him up.

So - I talked to Eric and he is willing to give it a try. I mis-read James' post and thought you were talking Saturday. Looks like we'll have to try a day that Mario and James will be there at the same time.

Mario - are you planning on going this weekend? What day?

Well - Looks like Eric & I are in for Saturday. James - thanks for your offer. Maybe we can take you up later in the season.
