    Tough night for Thailand

Kip, put the snowboard away and buy some skates. These guys need help.

"Kazakhstan put 52 goals past Thailand in Asian Winter Games hockey action Monday, but the goal that brought the most cheer came from the outgunned Thais.

The Asian ice hockey little guys went into the game knowing they were going to lose to tournament favourite Kazakhstan, but an opportune goal seven minutes into the third period was celebration enough in the 52-1 loss.

The hero was forward Arthit Thamwongsin, who jumped on a rebound off the boards to slam a shot past Kazakhstan goaltender Sergey Ogureshnikov."

yeah, I don't think ice hockey will ever be our national sport @:_)

It is a bit like watching rugby between NZ and pretty much anyone other than Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Wales, France or England. Painful procession of unanswered scoring.

There is like 2 rinks I think in Thailand; so it isn't exactly a mainstream sport.

I did toy with the idea of going to the Asian winter games at one point; maybe I should look into that again; I am already ranked number 2 in Thailand in sprint triathalons through a complete fluke and no training; if I could get a silver medal for snowboarding to go with that, it wouldn't be all bad :-)

If I could go to the Asian Games for anything, I would make the effort. Think of all the Korean women speedskaters you'd meet. They could probably crush you like a walnut.

Is there a Senior Asian Games?

not sure about that. I am fully into Korean women but sadly, I don't think my girlfriend is :-0 plus I am not old enough yet to have to race in the senior Asian Games.

Sadly, the tri result was due to a fluke jellyfish invasion on the swim course, so it would be very unfair for me to deprive a worthy competitor of a place they should have earned, competing for Thailand, when I just fluked 2nd without any training at all.

That said, I might be in with a shot in sailing if I sort my ship out. In a matter of speaking.
