How about the other white meat?

Do any of your inside sources know if the Physics system is going to be resurrected?

    AT is where it's at!

You want a high-performance backcountry setup? It's all about randonnee. True freeheeling on the way up: no springs to fight against when you're touring. Top out, rip the skins, lock and load, and...

    Post a pic!

I assume that when you're talking about the heel pieces, you're referring to the parts that attach to the baseplate of the binding and stay fixed to the deck (the "receiver" to most Intec users),...

You stand on the shoulders of giants.

Hey, if there was equipment readily available to me in the late 80's that would let me carve as well as I could on my skis, I wouldn't have waited 10 years, either.

    Think about where your own...

    Read all about it

You should check out the My First Day Forum on oldsnowboards.com. More than a few hardbooters chiming in from back in the day.

    Still got 'em!

First board I ever owned was a Performer Elite 150 - black with red pinstripes and white lettering, and black Darth Vaders with the Fastex "clips" and Salomon leash.

First alpine board was a Crazy...

Anybody try/use Reliable Racing's Carver Pro glove? Next time I'm down in Glens Falls I'm going to try 'em on for size.

    Don't forget the footbeds.

Especially if your guy has a soft arch, customs or even Superfeet will keep the arch from collapsing and keep your toe-heel length from increasing too much in weightbearing (in addition, of course,...

    WAM, bbaM, Thank You Ma'am!

    She's a beaut!

Any coiler orderers thinking of slapping a round tail on their FC/RC/PR sticks? Is that even an option?

    Forum Search

Doing a search for "Burton Physics" will turn up a few discussions here as well.

    I'm a big fan.

How much volume do you need to take up?

They both offer the same type and amount of support. The green ones take up more volume underfoot than the blue ones do, so that might make a difference in your decision.

    Hope this helps.

Guess I'll be sticking with Physics for a while. I wonder if Bomber/Catek designs qualify as metal baseplates. After all, they...

    Ah, the January Thaw.

My wife and I have two comp tickets to Bolton for MLK day - unless it gets cold and all this rain turns back to snow that actually sticks, I don't think we're even going to bother. All the lawns in...

    Why?

I must have missed the discussion about round vs. square tails. What is the benefit for decks that don't put a high priority on riding switch?

    Don't forget the toes.

I agree with BD about the "wet, packy snow". But in my experience, snow packed in the rings of the heel mechanism gets cleared when you step down into the binding, and it never packed up elsewhere...

Does CVA still have an alpine program?

Kicked around on the website a little and didn't see anything specific about alpine riding. If not, too bad - they produced standouts like Fawcett and Greenwood in the early/mid 90's.

    Ah, the good old days.

Sounds like the same old thing, except the local constabulary can't turn as blind an eye nowadays as they did in years (decades - *shudder*) past.
