looking for older (read cheap) plates preferably with cants or add on shims. I have got to get back into hard boots before I hurt myself

I would recomend buying a good pair of bindings such as catek or Bomber and not going cheap. The older bindings had a tendency to break- I know I have snapped them while riding and i wasn't pushing them that hard. You should be able to find a used pair of cateks or bombers at a good price.

that said, F2 Titanium and titanflex are solid as hell too, and quite affordable.

I have to agree, for $200 you can get used Cateks or Bombers, and for slightly more some good F2 stuff. Anything less is tempting fate, and you did say you didn't want to hurt yourself. Hey, this should be moved to the "want to buy" section, I just realized it was in "for sale"
