Why exactly were you hassled? There's 25 Burton jackets currently advertised on Ebay, including an AK down one.

could you explain exactly how you were approached about infringment? it seems that unless you buy the gear directly from burton you should be able to sell second hand where and when ever you want. i think you are getting jerked around. would like to know more.

They (e-Bay) would not give me a definite answer, but told me to contact Burton...I think someone in Vermont must do some random kind of e-Bay patrolling and pressures e-Bay to take down listings, those greedy bastards. I think that maybe since this is new, and I am a regular guy instead of a retailer, then I am somehow competing with other "legit" Burton sellers?
My only other guess is that anything put on e-Bay somehow gives people the impression that the products are fake or inferior, which is rarely the case, and Burton doesn't want that . All I know is this jacket is the real deal because when I got it, the quality is definitely first rate. E-Bay definitely screwed this one up...

a few years back a couple companies cracked down on gear being sold on the internet, some were that they were not authorized resellers(so they had boards coming in for warranty that were origionally sold off by other shops a season or two before) and others were that they did not want their stuff being sold mail order for other reasons.
the thing was that boards would be sold as new but when a waranty issue would come up and the reciept was from a shop the manufacturer has never heard of is where it came from it kind of makes things hard, and in some cases boards that never were meant for retail like rental gear but shop X told the buyer that it had a manufacturers waranty.
There were even rumors of counterfiet boards ending up in shops, not sure I buy that one, more likely a batch that had subpar epoxy or something that was meant to be in a dumpster and someone at the factory decided to make some cash, this happens with consumer electronics sometimes so I am sure it can happen easily with snowboards.

that all makes good sence, but our friend tahoe is just trying to resale something he bought from a retailer cause he doesn't want it anymore and happens to have not used it, or wore it with the tags, either way its his right to try to sell it through any avenue he deems best. he never entered into any contract with burton(unless he did and hes not telling us) so he is entitled to sell it and tell who ever is interested who makes it. its not like he used burton logos, i saw the previous listing, he only used the picture he took. i think burton should give you a refund if they dont want it on ebay. but as it seems, ebay canceled you so....it sounds kinda shady to me.

in particular when some companies bitch, ebay has pulled listings on a couple of my friends before as well for no real reason.
I think they just look for keywords then the monkey clicks on some random auctions and pulls them.

absolutely ANY time someone uses the VERA program, ebay will cancel the auction without hesitation, without explanation, nothing
I absolutely hate them sometimes...I picture all these *******s sitting there powertripping, rubbing their hands together, chuckling. grrrr
although a friend of mine suggested that it might actually be automated. Ive had numerous auctions cancelled through VERA...quite heavy-handed but there's nothing can be done really. dont use ebay?
I try to use classifieds before ebay on all items. you should check out craigslist and or the recycler

So you decided to save this jacket (great color for carvers) from the inevitable shredded fate of the rest of your jackets. Are you still laying your carves out like in '02, or is the cost of jackets and pants to high? Thanks for the free lessons at Northstar, what an eye opener.

Hey Jim,
yup, I thought I would give up this jacket to a rider who could actually take care of it, without subjecting it to the corduroy burn ;) actually, I got plenty of jackets over the years, so this gift was just going to waste...might as well sell it. As for the lessons, no problem. Nothing to teach you, really. You knew what you had to do all along...as with all carvers, it's not about learning the skill, it's about having faith in the edge and executing...hope to see you up in Norhtstar some day...right now, I am bumming in So CA. Looking to move back to the Bay Area or Sac, so I will keep my eyes posted for some senior management/engineering ops up there. Have a great holiday season and a great riding season. You may see me on my custom skwal (actually it's narrower, so I don't even know what to call it ;)

Very cool to see you're still shredding. Yeah, nothing like a lesson on a steep blue between lift poles to make me pay attention to form  ,hey it worked. Drop some mail on the TC site if you are up in the Bay Area. BTW Kirkwood (my personal favorite) has been excellent for midweek carving the past few seasons.
Narrower than a Swal? That bad boy has to be insanely long. Good luck with the bindings.

Bring it to the SNES at Mammoth (since you're down South) to watch everyone go numb, then trip on how well it works. :biggthump
