crackling bord

My 173 race board makes a crackling sound (like steping on glass) when I flex it. Does anyone know what is going on?

Is it a new board? Usually if a board or skis are new you can usually get a good, snap or pop out of them when they are put through their initial flexing. Is this what you are hearing, usually only one or two pops is all that you will get out of it.
