Between world cup medals and press engagements Bruce managed to get my new Coiler out the door. It's an AM172 with 21.5 waist - nothing custom, but still gorgeous and flawlessly finished. None of the pictures I've seen of the orange flames do them justice, so I thought I'd take a crack at it. You can see pictures here (http://www.kendo-sask.com/CoilerAM172/overview.jpg), here (http://www.kendo-sask.com/CoilerAM172/flames.jpg) and here (http://www.kendo-sask.com/CoilerAM172/flamesNoFlash.jpg).

Niel:
Is this your first all-mountain board? I'd be interested to hear how it rides on ice and choppy snow. My Prior rides really nicely on groomers and/or hero snow but when the snow gets really hard or icy, it chatters like crazy.

No, this board replaces my old Prior 4WD 165, which was from '99 I think. It was too soft for me but was still a very good all-rounder. The new one is quite a bit stiffer (7.7 on Bruce's scale, FWIW), a little longer and should do better in hard conditions and at speed. However my primary hills are Sunshine and Louise, so ice is not too much of a concern. I asked Bruce to build this one considering bumps and steeps are my normal habitat.
I'll be in Panorama starting Valentine's day, there will be plenty of groomed there. IIRC there are several black cruisers which are good for mach schnell. I'll let you know how it works.

Congrats Neil!! The board looks amazing!! Awesome pictures!!
Coincidentally, I just got a call last night from UPS verifying my address to deliver a very long box from Canada. What a surprise!! WOOHOOO!!
I could barely sleep last night and I can't concentrate at work today. I can't wait to get home!!
If I get a chance, I'll post some pictures as well....blue flames and red tribal.

That is a pretty board! Please post as to how it rides once you get a chance. I am intersted in one of Bruce's creations. I currently have a 169 4WD and am intersted in how the AM172 compares to your 4WD.
Thanks,
Dustin

Neil, next time you make a trip out this way give me a yell, I'd love to see what it looks like in the flesh.
I may even get to hook up with you at Panorama, assuming that we get some snow there ... Valentine's Day, you say?
PS ... any chance you're going to take the Prior there? I'd love to test ride one of those, and I missed the demos out this way at Xmas ...

It's dead, Jim. It's also quite different from the current ones if I understand things correctly.
D-Sub, one of those pics is a full one. They're all kind of big though.

Neil:
I'm in Banff this Fri-Sun. If you're going to Louise or Sunshine this weekend, let me know. We'll probably do Sunshine on Friday and play it by ear for Sat. and Sun.

Here are two more of Bruce's recent beautiful creations. The Coiler stork dropped them off today. The quality and workmanship of these boards is absolutely stunning....pure perfection!!! I can't wait to hit the snow!!!

The blue flames is a custom 173cm PR template with WCC and TL, 18cm waist and 13.2m sidecut. The red tribal is a stock AM169 with 21.5cm waist. The AM nose is fairly wide so it makes the rest of the board look deceivingly large especially when sitting next to the narrow PR.
What are the final specs on the Coiler that you're waiting on?

my board is a PR184, 13.2, 19.4 waist. slightly beefed up build.
