I bet this hasn't happened to too many people on here....

Last run of the day today, I'm about to get on to the lift, and a girl (who turns out to be 18) comes scooting through the crowd and asks if she can ride up with me. I say sure, we get on the lift, and up we go. It turns out that she saw me ripping under a lift in the morning and was really impressed. She thought it was very cool to see an instructor on hard boots and...........wanted to know what I was doing tonight.

Wow, I did not see that one coming.

moirror70,
You're the man! I never had that kind of response from others but take advantage of it while you can. People are generally impressed by carvers but not usually to that extreme. One word of advice, wrap it up before you dive in. Good Luck dude.

JT -- If she were at least of legal drinking age I'd consider it, but 18 is just a bit too young for me. Doh!

Jack -- How did your first day go? Hopefully your technical difficulties aren't going to be widespread. Of course (patting self on back), that's exactly what I told Erik would happen a couple of months ago.

I only got a couple of free runs in today. In the morning I had 3 stalkers so I went inside until 10 and then had lessons for the rest of the day.

Are you gonna be around on Sunday?

I have to agree. This chick needs some pointers but Wednesday nights are killers in my weekly schedule. Now weekends at Stratton or Mt. Snow that would be nice; blue eyes, blond hair, and, believe it or not, can carry on a decent conversation any takers? lol

Blonde hair and blue eyes I got. Intelligent conversation is sometimes debated by my friends, but I will go out on a limb here and say that I can hold my own. My only problem is a few thousand kilometers across the Pacific Ocean (Australia).

If you are at SES or ever get to Oz, would be happy to try to impress you....lol

Elisa, You have an open invite to come to Mt Snow for the weekend free clinic. Since weekends are too crowded to ride too fast, it's a great time to help out inspired carvers.Personally, I'm married to a hot Brasilian but alot of my ski buddies are unattached.Isn't skiing really about hot tubs, red wine, stinky cheese and platonic relationships ? Remember the old T shirt: " Just because I slept with you doesn't mean I have to ski with you" ??? ??? Now, I just carve til it hurts, hot tub, beeeers and some blissful snoring....and wishing I was in Tahoe again...with a snorkel.

Excellent link, Willywhit. Aisling. If you could be so kind as to post a pic of your face and butt, you will surely garner a very positive reaction and the highest level of respect. This will allow the experienced carvers here to reach a conclusion as to your expected level of soreness through your carving journey. In person inspection would provide more accurate results but this will do.

Please feel free to tell us your troubles, too, we are very interested.

Had an epic day of carving one day a few years ago where I was just laying down the sweetest turns on the steepest run at the resorts. My boss (I was working on the mountain at the time) told me that she was "turned on" after seeing me from the lift.

I didn't explore her comment too much, but I can say that the right turns will definitely get the juices flowing.

I just might have to take you up on that weekend clinic, I never get to ride with other carvers. I tried catching up with a few up at Mt. Yep it sure is nice when snowboarding can help you hook up. I have been stopped and hired for lessons by a variety of folks after seeing the depth of my trench.

But at 230 - 245 lbs the last few years that is a whole lot of love. If I had not experienced this myself I would have trouble believing that I could pick up girls with my snowboarding ability. I am a long way from showing my six pack ( but with the g-force turns I pull I know it's in there.
I did have an outrageously beautiful 40 year old hire me to teach carving to her equally beautiful 18 yo old russian friend a few years ago. Already in relationship so could not take advantage of either situation.

The best come on was an extremely healthy and gorgeous brunette that skated up to me in the lift line and brushing some three day old powder off my hat (that I had managed to get a face shot from), and pulling a small twig out of my neck gator says to me: " I want to ride with you".
The way she said it I was not sure that I heard the "with". YYIIKKKESS. Or maybe wishful thinking. Her reason, explained on subsequent chair ride. "I always see you covered in powder and have never seen you fall."

Already with another girl at the time but we were riding buddies all year and had a great time.

An older woman will never wake you up in the middle of the night & ask you, "What are you thinking?" An older woman doesn't care what you think.

An older woman always carries a purse full of emergency supplies. Young women go hungry and bleed to death every time there's a natural disaster.

An older woman always carries a condom in her purse. A younger woman is still hoping the guy might have one on him.

An older woman is a cheaper date. A younger woman will cost you 12 beers, but an older woman will sleep with you after a cup of a herbal tea.

The older a woman gets, the stronger her libido gets and the older a man gets, the weaker his libido gets... which is why nature intended young guys to go out with older women and young women to go out with older men. (this one ain't always true - wink, wink )

An older woman can wear bright red lipstick during the day without looking like she just had an adventure inside a jam jar. This is not true of younger women or drag queens.

Older women can run faster because they're always wearing sensible shoes.

An older woman is into free sex! An older woman is almost always already attached to someone, so there's no need to develop a phobia about committing to her. The last thing she needs in her life is another clingy, whiny, dependent man! (child)

Older women are more honest. An older woman will tell you that you are an ******* if you're acting like one. A young woman will say nothing, just in case it means you might break up with her. An older woman puts herself on a pedestal.

An older woman will never get pregnant and then suddenly demand that the two of you get married. In fact, if you impregnate an older woman, you will probably be the last to know...

Older women have jobs with dental plans. Younger women can't help you when your teeth get knocked out carving.

An older woman will never accuse you of "using her." She's using you.

Older women take charge of the situation. An older woman will call you up and ask you for a date. A younger woman will wait forever, by the phone, for you to call...

Older women know how to cook. Young women know how to dial Pizza Hut Take out.

An older woman will introduce you to all of her girlfriends. A younger woman will avoid her girlfriends when she's with you, in case you get any ideas...

Older women are psychic. You never have to confess to having an affair, because somehow they always know.

Older women often own an interesting collection of lingerie that they have acquired from admirers over the years. Young women often don't wear underpants at all, thus practically eliminating all possibility of a strip-tease.

Older women know what Kegel exercises are.

An older woman will agree to go to McDonald's with you for a meal. Younger women are too nervous to eat anything in front of somebody that they might possibly boff later.

Older women are dignified. They are beyond having a screaming match with you in the middle of the night in a public park. (Really? I missed that one.)

Older women are experienced. They understand that sometimes, after 12 beers, a boy just can't get it up. A younger woman may need some time to grasp this fact.

An older woman has lots of girlfriends... and most of them will want to boff you too.

An older woman will always meet the minimum height requirement to go on an amusement ride.

An older woman will never accuse you of stealing the best years of her youth because chances are someone else has stolen them first.

the girls in hardboots, I mean. Thu I was cruising on the Amex with PSR most of the day, and Fri I was out on the Madd boardercross and Steph's Donek. Christina and I might even have ridden up the lift with you.

Next time ... I'll buy you a drink.

Hey stoked ... funny you should mention that, I'm a goofy rider and I made the mistake once of jumping on a T with a friend of mine who's regular. Trouble was ... he got on the left, I got on the right ... we ran into each other about five feet up the hill. Hilarious.
