Okay, I'm sure it's because I'm just not that trendy or internet savvy, but what the hell does "bump" mean? I see it in posts all by itself.

It doesn't need to be "bump", any new message in the thread will do. "Bump" is just shorthand for "please pay attention to this old thread again, I'm not contributing anything new".
