We took the Plunge and ordered a new cnc machine today. We purchased our first cnc machine in 1999 which has provided us with unparallelled custom capabilities and production speed. We will continue to utilize the original machine. Having a second machine will provide the ability to produce board components in parallel, dramatically cutting our production time. We look forward to the new machines arrival in 4 to 6 weeks.

I'll have to post some footage of the two machines working side by side when we get the new one.

Looking forward to that Sean. Some of the work I have seen done on these are very impressive. All the home mechanics out there will be drooling for sure!!!

Sean, Congrats on the new machine! Looks like a nice piece of equipment. Is this used mainly for preparing cores or do you shape other components on it too? Take care, Tom

We use a similar machine produced in 1999 to die cut bases, cut bases to shape, shape and taper cores, as well as shape aluminum laminates, machine aluminum components for the plate systeam, cut tooling for pressing boards, etc... The list is pretty extensive.

We're going with a router for now, but may upgrade in the future to a spindle.

a friend building high end DH skateboards is upgrading to a custom built/spec'd CNC. He's going with a Spindle, his goal is really high torque, low RPM's so that he doesn't burn the wood when he's cutting, especially wheel wells
