These are a couple of videos I've put together. They explain the basic physics of a turn and how the shape of the sidecut can impact the shape and dynamics of your turn.

Thanks for the informative video, superb as always.
BTW, what kind of technique and board shape (including sidecut radius and flex pattern) do you think is the best for turn shape like this:

I think you want VSR for this. It can be done with a fixed radius as well, it's just not as easy to accomplish. One thing the video probably doesn't stress enough is that the rider and technique can dramatically alter things. The video is meant strictly as a guide to what the sidecut will do under the most common circumstances.

Eliptical isn't so bad either...
pretty sure elliptical is a lot like VSR. Longer in the middle, tighter on the ends. Assuming that is the portion of the ellipse used.
