Rusted Edges fix?

can anyone give me advice o nthe best way to tune my board if i let my edges rust by accident? i tried doing a search but came out with nothing. is there permanent damage to my board now?

Just file the edges. The rust will be a good guide to let you know you've taken enough material off. Or you can just ride the board and the rust will come off in 1-2 runs.

If you really want it done perfectly, it probably wouldn't hurt to take it to a shop and have them stone grind it. You probably haven't done that in a while.

In the future, you can avoid the problem by simply taking a crappy piece of wax and running it along the edge before you store it or put it on top of your car.

you dont even need to file tho. rust is most likely just a very thin surface layer so a fine stone will do as well. Filing removes edge material unnecessarily

Just use a gummi stone. It wont file the edges down, doesnt change edge angles and can be used without a guide. Easy.

Ditto on the gummi stone. Works great for rust removal.

Keep those edges clean and dry :) If you let them it get really rusty, then the gummi stone will only remove some of the surface rust. A fine stone might be needed.

Scotchbrite pad...if you don't need any edge work (just removal).
