Is anyone going to be around? What's the snow conditons like? Is it worth me making a six hour drive and spending $$$ to come and visit, or should I leave it for later in the season?

Any locals in the know, please chime in ...

Hmmm... Right now it is shaping up to be a typical opening weekend with limited terrain. The backside (yawn) should be in pretty good shape but Johnasmo and I are really questioning if anything on the front will open up... besides the cat track to the village area.

Here is a link to what the NWS predicts (http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=48.49704262447178&lon=-114.3453598022461&site=mso&smap=1&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=text) the weather will be like.
So looks like there is some more snow headed our way.

The WMR (Big Mtn) (http://skiwhitefish.com/snowreport.php) site is still being cryptic on what will be open. However they are saying "it will be the best opening day in years".

I mounted up my rock carver and am very hopeful that Toni Matt or Chair 2 will be open on the front. If this next storm cycle brings us lots of joy then maybe even the metal boards will come out....please, please, please...

I would advise anyone that is planning on riding the WMR more than 3 days this season to pick up a frequent skier card (http://skiwhitefish.com/tickets_passes_winter.php). After 2-3 days of riding you will be saving money and only spending $41.00 per ticket.

So...is it worth the drive??? Well you would get to enjoy Montucky. And yes Johnasmo, myself, Angry Rick, West, New Dave, Mario, Sqwall Bunny and the rest of the gang should be around!

Ooh, looky! A whole PILE of snow, no less!

I think I'm going to keep an eye on the weather, and see what the newsletter has to say about opening terrain, later in the week. I'll update if it looks like a go ... fingers crossed.

See, the thing is, the sun always shines where dredman is - which makes for super bluebird groomer days...when you finally get enough snow to groom. :eplus2: Last season it was sun and perfect cord almost every day. But now that he has moved to Northern Montucky, we have been getting no sun and gobs of snow here in the south. Targhee opened early with excellent coverage, JHMR opened early with the most terrain they've ever had on opening day, and Snow King now has more snow than it got all season last year. Allee, too bad it would such a long drive for you to come down here! Hope The Big shapes up for you!

Allee, are you going to be coming down for WTF in January? I'd love to ride with you again and hopefully this time in better carving conditions!

It's on the calendar for sure. I have every intention of making it down for the first weekend.

Nice! I work on Saturdays now, so my intention at this point would be Sunday, Monday, maybe Tuesday too!

I'd lvoe to ride at Targhee. I've heard nothing but good things ... maybe one winter when I have time for a road trip.

"sigh" that and Oregon and Utah ... I need to win the lottery or something ...
