I have been having trouble lately with my insides of my ankle bones getting irritated from riding. I think it might be partly due to the fact that I am riding mellow angles-50 and 45 on narrower boards and 45 and 40 on all mountain boards. I think I am pushing too much on the inside of the boot shell with those angles. I had to stop riding because I was afraid I was going to rub the skin raw there and or bruise my ankles which I did not do. It also might be due to the fact that my liners are getting packed out? I was thinking I might go up 5 degrees on each foot and see if the pain goes away? Anyone have this problem? I have not had a problem with this before.

Are you maybe cross-legged or bow-legged? Have you tried playing around with canting and lifts? The angles you described below do not seem to be an issue themselves, there might be other things that have to be fine-tuned.

On a separate note, don't you have overhang (boot out) on a narrow board with 50-45? Well, first of all what is narrow for you? And secondly what size of boots you wear?

Size 26 boot. No problem with boot out. I also think that part of the problem might be due to the fact that my boot fit is a little bit loose and I am moving around a little bit. I know my boots are the correct size and not too big.I am using bomber bindings with 3 degrees in front and 6 in back set in the traditional setting with the cants . It feels comfortable. I might try some thicker socks and see what that does. It might be time to get new liners and maybe a different type of liner. What about an injected foam liner insead of a intuition or thermoflex liner which is what I have always used? The heat moldable liners tend to pack out a lot and I have a sloppy fit.I know injection molded foam is expensive-400.00 but is it way better? Billy Bordy was going to try it a few years ago and let us know.It would be worth it if it would last the life of the pair of boots. If I get another liner this would be the 3rd liner for 1 pair of boots. I am not destroying my ankles at this point but need to correct this problem. Narrow board for me is 18 cm waist. I am using sidewinder bindings and my feet are higher off the board than other bindings and I don't EC so no problem there.

Well, then it sounds like a liner issue...

I bet it's a boot cuff cant issue. Get in your boots and on your board and have someone take a pic of your lower legs

Rode today.I made 2 changes-1. thicker socks2. changed angles to 50 and 45 from 45 and 40.Much better and less of a problem. My left ankle was feeling it a little bit but not enough to be a big problem any more. I may need to get new liners next season as the fit is getting sloppy with a thin sock. I haven't done any damage to my ankles it just felt like I might be able to rub the skin raw. I think the new angles are better for me as well. This was on the Prior 174 awd in spring conditions.I would like to find a liner that doesn't pack out so bad that is heat moldable or maybe they have to be replaced often to keep a good fit? Of course I mentioned earlier about injection molded foam liners but that is 400.00 and does it last several years without the fit changing much? That is a lot of money to spend. I will try steeper angles on the narrower boards as well next season. I will go back to 55 and 50 on the narrower boards 18cm waist. I didn't have any problem at all today with the 5 degree difference . I think it makes me ride with better body postion over the board. I won't be riding the narrow boards anymore this year as the snow is too soft for them now this late. I might ride 1 or 2 more days or call it quits for this year and bust out the longboards to carve pavement?
