I really need to write up a full report on my trip to Chile. However, as long as we're looking at snow porn, here's a pic of me from last month at Termas de Chillan. In the background is the course we were using for practice that day. Yes, the cord is as sweet as it looks. Plus it was ultra-firm in the am. Yummy.

You guys are all killing us midwestern riders who will have to wait until sometime in Dec. to get first runs in. Good thing I got that longboard this summer.

you bastards, now I'm really going nuts... dammit I'm gonna get an ulcer waiting for the mountains to open :(

Now I need to figure out a way to talk my wife into letting me take off for a couple of days to hood again so I can releive some of this desire :D

I don't recall which coach set that one. The coaches set the course each day. The coaches were Lisa Kosglow, Tyler Jewell and Anton Pogue. The gates were generously loaned to us by Phil Fell from Park City. We had some great courses. We practiced on two different pistes, which gave us real variety. Plus the courses all had at least one steep and one flat section. The one in the picture had two steeps and two flats.

I had never understood the concept of a double turn until this program. I really came to understand it in the flatter sections. The whole idea of having patience and waiting until you are in the rise line of the gate before tipping in was a total revelation for me. Often in the past, I'd get impatient and tip the board in too soon. Then I have to back off the edge to make the gate and then tip in again to complete the turn (hence the "double turn"). I learned a ton of other things as well (hip alignment was awesome - Lisa's kinesthetic teaching methods rule :D )

Like I promised, I'll work on a full trip report and post that soon.

Meantime, here are a few more pictures from the trip:

Those are Cateks, but Anton is the guy with the camera. Charlie Parker is the guy in the gate (the guy with the Donek logo on his helmet). Anton wears Burton race plates and Raichle Flexon ski boots.

Here's a picture of Anton playing with his tools while wearing his gear. That's a special plate attached to his board (I can't recall the mfg) kind of like a conshox:

Randy, I think that conshox top to Anton's F2 was made by Tinkler... ?

Everyone, I'm pretty sure I took the photo of Randy in front of the race course that day. Had an absolute blast down there and although it was only a month ago, the jones for early snow is still alive and well! :D

Anton being mischievous? Never (see below) :D

I'm pretty sure they plan to hold it again next year. I'd recommend it for any aspiring racers, as well as casual carvers.

LOL! Thats great!
Sometimes its great to say...yea...anton coached me for a bit...then other times....ehhh......:D

But it seems like anybody who has raced has at least a couple Anton stories to share. haha..maybe that is deserving of a new thread though cuz I know I can think of a couple doozies and you probably have a few now too.

I went shopping this weekend and bought some new black courduroy pants... brushed them all day long while in front of my computer designing a bunch of stuff that pays for my car and golf and snowboard habit... gotta retire again soon. Found car number 5 yesterday but no place to store it so I did not buy it. nice thing about clubs and snowboards - don't take up much room.:D
