SO i came across some boots id never seen before: Nordica SBS, looks like they have a lower shell that would work with plates, but the upper is like a soft boot.... can find much info on these, an one have any experience?

SBS - snowboard soft
SBH - snowboard hard
Probably mid to late nineties.

Both make great split board boots, too (depending on your plate vs. high back needs).

I had a pair, support was non-existent. I think latter day soft boots are better.
Used it for a day and that was it for me.

There are some plate with high back mods that can be made to make these viable- especially for crampon compatible "soft boots". I'd generally prefer the SBH, but I use tall cuffed hard boots for everything.

the lace up liner on the SBS is integral to the outer shell, definately needs a highback unless your Mike Ranquet and dont like highbacks:rolleyes:
also the lower shell is a very soft plastic that will flex out of a plate binderwhen torqued hard enough. Good for hiking bc with light crampons or bail snowshoes:biggthump
I think they're the perfect noboard boots
