Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could share their expertise on Edge Setups and the pros/cons of the edge/bevel setups that are common today.
My first alpine board shipped with the standard 90 degree edge angles and I wondered if I should have them tuned to something other than 90 degrees before the season kicks in here on the east coast in a month or so.
Thanks!

Alpine Undertaker,
I assume this board is new? Not knowing your level of expertise, I would suggest trying it as first. I always like a 1 degree bevel it makes the board more friendly on flats, less likely to hook up unexpectedly. With regard to the edges progress one degree at a time. I like to mark the edge with a Sharpie marker, so you can see where you're at and not taking off material needlessly. I currently run my metal boards with a 88 degree edge. In the past I have run non metals as tight as 86. It's really up to you, the board and your expectations. One thing to note when dealing with ski tuners, many like to "de-tune" tip and tail edges, that you don't want....run sharp tip to tail. Another is gloves and outer wear, handle sharp edges with care.

Maybe someone can chime in on base angels.
My side angels have ranged for 87 to 89 but always with a flat base but now after buying all of my own tuning equipment Im ready to experiment on my own. For my freecarving boards would a 1 degree base 1-2 degree be ok?

I just bought all new tuning gear myself. I'm going to start with a 0.5 degree base and 88 degree side to help with the ice. I am not in a position to offer advice, but here are some informative sites I have found. Hope it helps.
This one has a wealth of info on all tuning aspects. Just search under the contents.

BTW bite your tongue on the season starting in a month. I rented a house by Stowe and it better start a lot sooner than that. I'm going up for Thanksgiving, bringing my rock board, and hoping for the best.

Most people who tune their own equipment have their own personal preference so take suggestions as just that, suggestions.
My alpine boards I generally run 3* side and 1/2* base bevels.
My softy boards get 2* side and 1* base bevels
Running some bevel on the base keeps the board from becoming too "catchy". It allows the board to drift slightly without catching the edge and dumping you over.
I am one who likes my edges sharp the entire running length of the board but some like to detune the tip and tail some. Usually an inch or two for detuning.
Hope this helps,
