Q: automatic crampons + raichle sb325 boots?

hello,
is it possible to use automatic crampons (grivel) on raichle sb boots? i suppose that slant heel block prevents heel lock from locking.
i cannot test myself yet, so the question.

I just tried my Grivels (step ins, top model, can't remember what they are) on my Raichle (top model, can't remember what they are) boot.

The Raichle soul is longer than plastic climbing boots, so you'd have to get the spanner out to lengthen the crampons, although there's plenty of scope for that.

I didn't actually want to change my crampons, so I can't be 100% sure, but it looks like it'll work fine. The clip at the back appears to clear the Intec pins and passes outside the heel, so that should be ok.

I think it'll work ok.

I've got a set of Black Diamond switchblades that go on my 224's just fine. The only thing that looks strange is the gap under the heel piece at the back. I've beat mine around pretty good w/o movement. No ice climbing yet but fine for glacier travel! NOTE: the fit of the lever to the back of the boot is critical, it must "cam" over and make sure that you use the retaining strap around the boot.

I've used my Salewas with both Burton and Raichle boots with no problems. Still use Koflachs for big mountain backcountry (over 20,000'), as they're better on approach, fit crampons, kick steps well, and keep my feet warm.

Up high, warm is good.

thank you all!

in a week we gonna go for Belukha (15,000') - topmost peak of Altai. with raichles (w/ intuition liners) + f2 race + f2 eliminator ltd (but some SL on that ice can do fine too). no extreme iceclimbing, so i hope all goes well. hope to retrace jim zellers' 1999 descend.
