Being bored, I checked Loveland's website and they say it's exactly one month from today that they'll start to make snow!!!

So, so, so jonesing for some white stuff at the moment. We had a few days last week where there was a possibility of snow above 12k feet, but it never happened.

I find myself daydreaming about making turns, both pow and groomed, and it seems all my friends are the same too; perhaps 15-20 minutes a day at work is spent talking about how awesome the season will be (el nino conditions, new equipment, best early season terrain, etc.). I keep telling all my boarder friends I'm going to take them out on hardboots when the SES comes to town, which is sweet as I'll have a full pass and be able to ride every day, unlike last year.

Anyone else as stoked as I am?

I really hope I will snowboard in Mammoth for Halloween. I'd dress up in costume for sure. C'mon El Nino!!!! :1luvu:

Loc, that could be a possibility. Many years ago my father and I flew to Mammoth at the end of October for a day filled with fun sliding on the white stuff. Mammoth was only able to open the Main Lodge area as they had no staffing hired yet to open up more mountain. It was still a great day being able to ski with my dad.

BTW, I want the snow to fall soon. Just give me a dusting of white stuff to look at and that will suffice until the resorts open.

It wasn't all that long ago that we had a wonderful Halloween on the snow. 2004:

That was an awesome season opener. Lets hope for another! :)

Here in the four valleys, the clouds lifted and i enjoyed a view of snow covered peaks on my way to work this morning, which was a welcomed change from the dirty ash covered glaciers I've been looking at all summer. It won't be long before the backcountry season starts, and a mere 4,000' more and we'll have snow in town. :biggthump
