I was looking for snowflake images & came across this. Really cool, may not work while wearing glasses. Look at both pics crosseyed then relax focus on central image. http://emu.arsusda.gov/snowsite/stereo/stereo.html

Oh, it's a sailboat.
Seriously, I don't see what its supposed to be. Do you have to be really close to the screen?

Amazing!
For me, it worked the best from normal distance to the screen or a bit closer.
Once the 3d image has developed and you can look on it without much effort, try moving your head around a bit: It moves like a 3d object should, but in oposite direction (mid piece wants to go "with you" instead of away from you...

I was trying to come up with something witty but....this is much wittier.
It's funny...cross your eyes and relax...wow!

Cool! Thanks for posting. Stereograms are fun.
Here (http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=14282&highlight=stereogram)are a couple more from the 2007 snowboard season.

Per Bobble's advice in Scuff's link, the best technique is get WAAAY back and move in. Around 4 feet worked for me. The snowboarding ones are awesome!

i love viewing stereograms. they're timeless. you can get lost in them just looking at the detail.
just had cataract surgery. one eye is corrected to about 20/30, the other is 20/ginormous :freak3:. right now i'm unable to merge the images of the snowflakes. looking forward to seeing them. i'm waiting for a new contact lens for my other eye. prior to surgery i could perceive the depth cues in a stereogram but it was difficult to maintain. snowboarding in flat light completely sucked ass.
anyways, stereograms are easy to create... i encourage anyone to make some especially carve porn -- my favorite! action shots require two cameras and synchronization. seems like everyone is buying DSLRs... buddy up with someone and make dual trigger. making still shots with one camera is easy to do.
this is the freeware i used for the snowboarding pictures (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/). what i like about this is it has alot of different modes like making over/under prints. i have an over/under viewer (http://www.berezin.com/3d/ViewMagic.htm) which allows full frame 35mm prints to be viewed in 3d.
there are freeware programs out there. i played with this one (http://www.stereoeye.jp/software/index_e.html) for awhile too.
fuji has a new camera out there for stereo (http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/07/3d_digital_cameras_no_glasses_requi.html).
