There are a range of these out on the web.
This is a fairly impressive one, purely mechanical.

The principles could probably applied to make one suitable for a GoPro video camera. The final combination could be seriously light but effective.

Very impressive. I would have needed a little bit more when I filmed something for a video contest earlier this summer. Instead, I just just a software video stabilizer.

For those interested, I used the Deshaker (http://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm) plugin for VirtualDub.
