How exactly do you measure stance width, is it from center to center of the bindings or the distance between the bindings ?

I went back to an alpine setup this year after a long softbooting interval and reading all the discussions on stance width, angles, cant/lift, etc. helped me a lot to determine what I think is the right setup for me.

Yet, I find that my stance width (57cm = 22.4 in) seems a bit wide according to BoL standards. So maybe I am not measuring it right (I measure from center of the binding).

It's center to center.

That's pretty wide but it seems like that's the trend these days anyways.

This year I myself widened my stance by an entire inch, up to a whopping 17.5" :)

How tall are you Ken?

5'6", so I think that is not actually a super narrow stance. On the narrow side, but not totally crazy :)

Yep—wide stance and low angles—that's the way to go today! :D (Kidding.) We're looking more and more like jibbers every day! :smashfrea

center to center, in hardboots I'm also riding at 17.5"

I'm 6'3" and will be trying a 20 1/2 up from 19 1/2 as I was told that seemed a bit narrow.

lift/cant will also affect your stance width (i.e. with more lift it is easier to accommodate a wider stance)

Might explain why 20.5 feels wide with 3 front and 0 rear.

Looking for a TD1 3 degree in red or purple for this reason. See WTB section.

Thanks Folks.

Actually, I didn't follow any trend, but the old kneeling method plus my past experience on GS boards. 22.4 may just be a bit too wide after all.

Hey Derek, I am still in for a trade/sell on the TD1 disks, BTW.

How exactly do you measure stance width,
put yer boots in yer bindings
find the mark on the boot center
scribe it onto yer bindings
take yer boots out of yer bindings
measure the distance between marks
thats the one ya want

It's only too wide if it is uncomfortable for you or negatively impacts your riding. I'm 5'6" and I ride a 20" stance. There is nothing wrong with wide stances and/or low angles.

I'm 5'10, straight legs, 3 front 3 rear, and this year I've been riding 21.5" on my Virus WCR 180.

I'm still debating whether that's too wide or not. Unfortunately, once I get around to thinking about it, my TD2s are iced/frozen up enough to make it incredibly annoying to take them all apart and change. So I just shrug and keep going. :D
