My nephew and I went up to Belleayre today (Friday 1/2/09). Hero snow conditions and plenty of room to turn. I don't know how much new snow they actually got over the last two days but it was snowing on and off all day. Most the diamond and double diamond slopes were carvable with only the very center of the slopes scraping off by mid day. The lower blues and diamonds never really got icy but for maybe a spot here and there. My 13 year old nephew is really coming along with his carving. All greens and most blues are carvable terrain for him. All in all it was just a solid day carving.

Sounds like a great day out. For carving, that's a great mountain.

Towards end of season, you can find a few really nice wide open powder turns to the skiers left of the mountain. There's an old ski hill back in the woods, complete with run down lift towers. If someone picks you up at the bottom, it's a great couple of runs - but you didn't hear any of this from me.
