And I found the April 2000 snowboard life with the original expression session in it. I was there with my buddy doug. I dont ride alpine anymore but thought you guys would dig it.

Cliff Ahumada organized it.
Other folks there...
Vin Quineville (always a pissa to ride with smiles as hard as he rides)
Dave Kirk (gazelle like jumps in between carves)
Will Garrow (Dynamite talent and great to drink pitchers with)
And if youy know these names you know what I am saying...
Joey Cabell, Mike Doyle, Herbie (nose ride at trestles?!?!??!) Fletcher and a fantastic drunken speech by Mickey (Quasimoto) Munoz.

Just a piece of fun from recent history.
All the best.

ps: The pictures are big so you can read it. Dont get bitchy!:p

Cool article! I remember seeing a poster in the lodge at Buttermilk for a session in '96 or '97 and thinking "how cool is that!? a carving event! only for carvers! crazy!"

Couple of Purecarve boards there, huh?

Lovin the style of the riders.

and what wonderful memories.

I thought softbootsailor's BOL photo (of himself) at Makaha was Joey Cabell and said so in a post here.

There are still many Mike Doyle softboards in the surf today.

That was truly a fun event. Too bad the Pure Carve guys don't make more of an appearance at the Bomber events.

I emailed Cliff today asking if some of the old Purecarve videos would be available on DVD and got his response a few minutes ago, it looks like they will. I'm really happy to hear about this since they are some of my favorite videos of all time. I think some of the riding in them is from some of the sessions you guys are talking about.

Hi Steve,
Yep they will be on dvd by the end of January, all 4 videos-"Ride the Edge"
"Carve On" "Carver" "Locked In". Hopefully www.bromada.com will be up and
running and you will beable to purchase the dvd's there. I am currently
filming in Aspen, producing another surfstyle carving video for release next
year. I am stoked on the site as it will have instruction, daily carving
from around here, powpow and life style stuff. Spread the word if you can!
Thanks for checkn in.

I went to the last PC session back in 2002. It was humbling for me as I Just started to ride alpine. That cover photo has my good friend The Carve Father in the front left with the stars and stripes board

Cool poster. I got a kick seeing Dave on it. He's the guy that put me on my first Hard boot board back in '98. He's still the tuner to go to at Tahoe, works at Shoreline on Kingsbury grade.

Just got an e-mail from Mike Doyle saying they are still ripping it up at Aspen. This pic is of him this season. Damn cool.

Ken, great job digging up that article. Man, that does bring back some memories. It was those guys and that get together that inspired us to come up with an event as well. Pure Carving was way ahead of the times with the entire concept. Huge thanks out to them!
