My wife's side of the family is renting a big house a Deep Creek Lake right across the street from Wisp for the Christmas holiday. I should be able to hit the slopes for at least a few of the days there. My brothers-in-law and their boys ski and snowboard, so I'll have some company.

I've never been to Wisp. Anyone here have any experience or advice for riding there? It doesn't look like much of a mountain on the trail map, but I haven't been on my board since SES08 so I'm looking forward to anything right now, and eager to try my new WCR metal.

I suppose the chances of finding dedicated hardboot carving instruction are slim, huh?

Been there a only a couple of times - usually I ended up doing laps on Squirrel Cage. Nice wide run without too much pitch. That was back when there was a mid-station right at the top of the run - now you have to come down Randal's Run to get to Squirrel Cage. Solly, not a lot of help...

This was my first mountain in my snowboarding career way back in 1990. It's not too bad considering it's in Maryland. I liked it.

Been there a few times. Be careful, you'd better have eyes in the back of your head. Ain't many carvers there, so others aren't used to what we are able to do. Most of the runs will be scraped down to ice the first 50 feet, then you're ok.
Enjoy it, nice people about.
