so i just got one... (finally) though i've never landed on my face or my head, people kept telling me i need a helmet so i went and tried on some while riding in march. bought one on ebay for 50 bucks. a nice Giro... it's snazzy and red!
only prob is when i was trying them on in the shop i was pretty sure of my size and went by that. now that i have it, it seems ever so slightly loose-ish. is there a way to add some padding to make it more snug or should i just wear a hat underneath?

Aisling, Ken B. has had very good luck with packing hamburger meat into his helmet to take up the xtra space. For him, it is cost effective as he gets the meat scraps for free from the deli he works at.

My K2 helmet came with some extra pads but I didn't buy it on Ebay. I got mine from a junkie who was selling bunch of stuff on a blanket on the sidewalk on Saint Marks Place in NYC. He was also selling tooth brushes but I didn't like the colors.

You might be able to find an accesory pack of pads at a shop.

If you can't find any Giro specific pads, just go to your local bike shop and ask for some extra helmet padding at the service counter.

They usually have sheets of the stuff that they just give to you.

Worked for me.

I just usually wear a hat under my helmet. It also will keep you really warm on those really cold days.

Found the hat you should wear under your helmet ... after a day of great riding it transitions into a great party hat in the lodge by the fire drinking tequila!!

I like the color choice you picked for the hat marilyn although i do not know if it will contrast well with his eye and skin color also looks to me as if he has come to his conclusion.

It is a perfect color sombrero for under a red bucket! Hot hot hot!

Yes, there are a couple female hardbooters out there ... and on this forum!! It's alllll good. While I've never met Aisling, it has been verified to me that she is female! Even though most out there doubt my existence ... I AM and I AM female w/ hardboots and a silver bucket!

Now you have just caused a least a dozen people to madly peruse through the forum archives in in search of previously mentioned photo. I wonder if Bomber keeps track of search terms like Google does... it's amusing to track what people are searching for over time.
