I received some brand new boots today. I was hoping for spanking brand new boots. Obviously these had been exposed to the elements as there is rust on the pins. Anyone else had this problem with UPZ? Do I need to look at Deeluxe instead? Pics of the rust:

if they were stored in a humid place they will do that.
mine did too, after I got them but it happened real fast like in two weeks.

Brand new? Those would be going right back to whoever I bought them from...

it's the metal, it rusts very easily

Every boot that I've had has some type of metal on it and I've NEVER seen this?

So this is a UPZ only thing?

If so I'll never buy a UPZ boot. That's craptastic.

I think it's just a lack of a treatment or something

I've had other boots have the rivets rust too it just took a season or two
not a week

Did you order this straight from UPZboots.com / Dan Yoja ?

I just checked my UPZ's. I have at least 3 years / 30 days days on them and there is only the slightest hint of orange staining at the edges of the round rivets that hold the buckles on and no discernable rust. The ones in your photos look like they were stored in a saltwater sauna. I'd absolutely send them back.

As with all products, there could have been major problems with the conditions in shipping that the sellers knew nothing about.
For example I try not to take my boards out of plastic to allow the new owner to enjoy the unveiling process. If there was moisture in that wrapper then edges will often get rust on them. Normally takes only a few runs until it is gone, so no worries.
This is a new issue, so I'm sure that the seller will be open to your ideas. Open communication with your dealer is always the best first option.
Good luck,
