Intec cable frustration:angryfire sticky pins lead to cable failure. Took 10 min of ****in around in the lift line with my multi-driver to get my rear foot out so I could ride the lift back to the village. 10 yrs hard use on old nitro G-style stepins & never had a problem, 10 weeks of hard use on intecs lead to sticky releases & cable failure. This would not be much of an issue If it was possible to buy new cables. Dissapointment is setting in, used intec binders & heels with 1 cable will be going up for sale which'll be good for someone who already has extra cables. Is F2 trying to squeeze the market? Anyone else feeling the pinch:(

It doesn't have to be pretty when installing a new cable. For a quick fix I use a bicycle shift cable and tie a knot in it after threading it up into the handle.I lower the handle down an inch or two onto the housing so I can tie the knot while leaving extra length to make it easier to tie.Just to be sure I make a couple of loops in the knot and then tape it after cutting off the excess cable and crimping on a cable tip.I then pull the handle up so the knot squeezes into it and then reinstall the retaining clip and eureaka!
For a longer term solution,I grind down the cable head on a mountain bike brake cable so that it fits perfectly in the holder .This also may require widening the slot that the cable runs in on it's way out of the heel. Then I do the knot procedure as above and I have a cable that lasts longer than the tread on the heel.My teaching boots have this configuration.

thanks Steve, I'll try that before giving up on them, wasn't sure a bike cable would work but sounds like I can rig it up :)

I found that Blue_tomato is selling intec now with the 07/08 stock.I ordered a set last night. I don't know if anyone else has them yet. If you check the euro ebay I saw cables there a while ago too.

Thanks Paul I'll look at blue tomato, but the bike cable will be the more imediate solution as INWES is Fri.
