It's on.:biggthump
Berkshire East Ski Area (http://www.berkshireeast.com/)
Sunday, Febuary 24th
Lifts open at 8:30 am (Or there about. Things are run pretty laid-back at this hill)
Full day pass is $35.
Please add your name to the list below!
Put your name on the list even if you're thinking about coming. It needs to be on the list to get the discount.
When you arrive at the mountain, find the customer service desk on the main floor of the lodge (one floor up from the outside ticket windows). Tell them your name is on the list for the carving rally, fork over the cash, go ride.
I will be by the customer service counter at the start of the day. Otherwise I'll have my radio on 4-4 as long as I can bear it. All runs dump out at one of two places so it won't be hard to find other riders regardless.

Hey guys,
I posted on the other thread, but I figured I'd post on this one too to improve visibility.
I live in Manhattan, NYC and I'd love to be able to get out to rail with you guys but i dont have a car. Is anyone going from the NYC area that would be able to pick up an extra passenger? I'd be happy to split the cost of gas. Let me know :)
Thanks,

Was up on the Dome Fri-Sun.
Conditions were groomed and fine loose granular over frozen granular. Not the best, but carvable. I stuck to soft boots on Sun.
Coverage was excelent and most likely will be for some time. If we get the snow that's predicted for Fri-Sat, we should have great conditions this coming Sun.

ugh.. Hope your mountain held snow better than Jiminy......
Was like a hockey rink in the middle of many trails, but was still some nice parts on a few trails. THis cold snap freeze is either going to be GREAT, or will suck HUGE.
Lets hope the snow drains the water off before the big freeze......

Ding, I donno about BEast, but Jiminy just made some bitchen' snow, and the groomer team lastnight did a stellar job making the memories of boiler plate and rain fade from many minds very fast!
Was out ripping it with Paragon all day today. Trying to get him to come sunday also.
Jiminy is a 34.00 E-coupon day Sunday and 21.00 on Monday (the 25th) incase people can't make it to the Thundermeet.

BILL was at Jiminy today, saddly I was on the carver early in the AM and he caught me at "break"(egg sandwich and warm beverage time after ripping early runs) and I saw him later in the day.
*He had a collision with a skier about 2 weeks ago, and it rang his bell something fierce... I plan to ride with him tomorrow Again.

I got 2 runs in this morning before it was opened to the public. Laid out hard on the toe just as the 360 opens out into the 180 trail under the Berkshire express, and then went to a stiffy heelside. amd turned it up hill and came to a stop. I turned to look at the chairlift, and I swear there was like 60 people looking at me .. LOL.
AWESOME HERO GROOM !
Glad you guys had a similar sexperience today aswell at B.E. !
I got a fat tip and 2 private request, so allsaid and done I made 180.00 in tips, so I was a happy camper today.
I did get drilled HARD by a sker though in a lesson around 10:00 am and he yardsaled as he hit me and left his skies wher they lie in the snow and moved me about 6 feet down hill. I turned and asked "? WTF WAS THAT ?"
He replied " You stopped".
DAUUUHHH !!!!!! its what people do when they reach the side of a trail edge and are facing their board into the woods after a turn!
I was out with BillB for a run int eh morning and he had a similar collision a few weeks ago.... I swear he passed me the curse !
I ended up gettign clipped 3 times today by people, and the day ended with a retard with skies on his shoulter turnig around as he was walking and clocking me inthe head witht ehm ! Good thing I still had my brain bucket on, or else I'd now have a nice lump on the side of my head.
All day today I was out and about and teaching and riding (with my bud Kris) and kept thinking of Rick Moranis in Spaceballs the Movie saying " *******S... I"M SURROUNDED BY *******S !"
I got off the hill. Just not anything more enjoyable than a nice deserted hill and perfect groom first thing. Atleast I got that in :)
I'm staying home tomorrow, my back is sore, so I think going 12 day straight will be a very bad idea. My legs are like rubber.

Hey Dave, I hear ya'. I did Saturday family night at B-East with two youngsters (6 and 9 yrs old). Its the first time I've ridden with them and I swear, I had my elbows out and my fists clentched ready to knock down the first out-of-control maniac who came close to hitting them...and there were many. I felt like a hockey goalie! It was actually pretty stressful. I guess no one taught these folks proper etiquette when they started skiing/riding. My dad did one thing right.
But that fantastic snow made it all worth it!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, that was heavenly. I guess we just have to share it with the idiots.
By the way, who's parking that black and green Renntiger outside the main doors of B-East? I've seen it my last two trips up. Strangely--its been riderless most of the time. Hmmm....

That's me.
When you see the dark blue Salomon with the chewed up "Super Dad" sticker on the nose in the same spot, the Renn Tiger is on my feet.
Though they will let me teach on the alpine set up, I prefer to use my soft boots. Had you shown up this Saturday morning rather than with the hoards that rolled in for the last family night of President's week, (what the hell were you thinking by the way?) you wouldn't have seen it there. Some of us had been riding for 7 1/2 hours by 4:00. By the time you showed up it was pretty lumpy, even on Exhibition and Lower Comp, which tend to stay smooth longer than anything else there. The nose of that RT is very soft, couple that with it being my first year on a hardboot/carving setup, you're likely to see it by the door when it gets that bumpy.
So are you a local guy? What are you riding? Shoot me a pm if your going to be up at the hill.
Oh, and one more thing. Don't put your board in my spot!:ices_ange

Hey Dingbat,
Nice to hear from you! I know, I know, Saturday morning was THE time to ride. (Actually, my boss and her crew took off from work at 2pm on Friday to hit the freshies at B-East. I should have known she wouldn't be around for long when she showed up for work, ski boots in hand that morning.) For me, I had (cheap ;)) family coming in from out of town--so they set the schedule for Family Night.
I live down the road in Florence, MA. I'm just starting to return to alpine riding. (I rode an old Burton asym M-series back in the day.) To transition, just this weekend I received my new F2 Speedcross, which I'm DYING to take out. I'll be riding a carving-oriented soft set-up on it for the time being. Otherwise, you'll see my black, Nidecker platinum on powder, crud, and slush days. Funny, I'm learning that I like a softer nose when the snow lumps up...
I'll drop you a line next time I'm headed North!

We Just figured you couldn't resist the glitz and glamour of Charlemont and got side-tracked as you drove through on your way to the hill.
Colin's 360 would've been the sweetest move I'd ever seen done on a snowboard had he not landed square on his back and actualy intended to do it in the first place.;):biggthump

Now was the 360 in the air or was it just a hard toe turn that over rotated into a nose press to a heel slide and around to the toe edge again?
LOL.
I felt like Sat AM was NOT the best day to ride. teh snow was still too soft and was sliding off the hard stuff under it too easily. I lost edge a few times, and put the carver away on Sat.
Sunday AM was indeed the perfect snow... atleast where I was.
Oh, and my back is better now :)

Oh it was in the air all right! I don't know if I can describe it without big hand and arm gestures, but I'll give it a shot.
He was doing some really tight, clean, round carves down a narrow blue that gets steeper right at the botom. Heelside, toeside, heelside onto the steeper pitch. The next transition didn't happen, he just stayed in that heelside carve and as the board came around to pointing straight up the fall line, it just carved right out of the snow, clean as a whistle, Colin was layed out in the air, rotating like a frisbee, as though the board was still carving it's arc in invisible snow. For a moment it was the coolest, most graceful thing I had ever seen done on a snowboard. Then it suddenly turned into a cloud of exploding snow with a clunky, orange-jacketed, Colin skidding through the middle of it. Man, if only he had landed it! :D

It was warm sunday morning, and I had my pit-vents open..........
Call it a snow-cheese grater... My body started to feel cold after my run, and I realised I had about 3 inches of snow in my coat .. LOL
