Ouch! Hope you don't end up having to go under the knife...
Now make sure you get a helmet and a pair of NoGomers wrist/thumb guards for next year!

Be careful with that injury - it lingers and linger and lingers - am going through my second round of immobilization and it is still so tender - makes for a hard day training on the mt bike.
Get heathly quick!

its not getting hurt that sucks, when you're old
its the recovery time.

its hard to be careful when its so much fun

but i agree w/ your sentiment about being careful when you're having fun.... after all, i'm the chick who does cartwheels off of cement stairways.

As I get older, I get a lot of naggy, little injuries. Nothing major because I just don't take the risks I did when I was 20. This year - bruised kidneys, sprained ankle, jammed shoulder and tender twinkies from 3 straight days of hard riding wearing loose boxers.

I'm still sitting here more than two weeks later with a sore shoulder from my spill. Doc looked at it quickly and said that there didn't appear to be any damage because my range of motion is still full.

Bob, you are the best. *hugs*
what do we have the same damn injuries or something? ;) lol
my PCP referred me to the hand surgeon who operated on HIS own 2 thumbs that he had injured. So I trust my doctor in this instance since he used him himself!
i know that waiting is bad but i sort of have no choice in the matter. the surgeon was out until april 9, so that's when i get to meet him.
until then i am trying my best to exercise the thumb and hand while not pushing it TOO far. sucks cause my signature is kind of messed up now.
the anesthesiologist here at work told me it would have been luckier for me to have broken the thumb. oh well.
spring is getting closer... you taking your bike out soon?

no surgery so far... its getting better but my grip strength is seriously impaired at the moment. i'm working it out with exercises. makes me think of that kids in the hall skit where the head crusher had to exercise his fingers...
lol
the surgeon told me if i was still in pain in sept he would look at it again. for now i just have to work on it.
i still have your damn wrist guards... i WILL mail them before fall I swear.
LOL

What type of exercises do they have you do? Baisc gripping exercises? Have you considered a dynaflex (http://www.dynaflex-intl.com/) ball. I have one of these and I find it good from improving grip and strength and wrist strength (nice for preventing RSI too). I'm sure your PT has you doing enough exercises already, but this one is nice because you can do it without even thinking.
What type of wrist guards did you use? I recommend the No-Gomer wrists (now the AUCLAIR ones) among other things because it has a thumb protector that prevents jamming/catching/smacking your thumb. I've used them for 6 years now (wow... that's a long time) and really like them.
