Last year we ran out of wax, so a friend gave us a bar of Hertel Racing FC 739. It did us pretty well. I'm just wondering if anybody else has experience with Hertel. Is it good stuff or is there some reason I shouldn't like it? Also, I know it's fluoro, but would it be a lo-fluoro or a hi-fluoro, or is it some fluoro-to-the-max concoction that Hertel thought up all on his own? Insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Pebu,
I have been using the Hertel Super Hot Sauce for years now and I love the stuff. If you read the literature on it, it's designed as an all temp wax which I like because I like one wax that works all the time. I buy it in bulk (160 bars) and I share with some friends but I also wax a lot of boards for friends and everyone else likes it too.
I did buy some of the race stuff from them last year but I didn't race enough to say how much faster it was.
I do have a good example of one time being at a race and I waxed the night before with the regular hot sauce and rode the board that morning. A friend waxed at the top of the hill and selected a wax to match the snow temp. After our first run we were gliding on a flat cat track back to the course and I left him way behind. Could be other factors involved but I think the waxed had something to do with that.
Either way that's the only stuff I use all season even in the spring slush.

So you're saying instead of finding another similar wax I should just break down and get the hertel?
I ask because I'm putting together a fairly substantial tognar order and they don't carry hertel wax. Seems like at one point they did, but maybe I'm just on crack.
Thanks for the quick response.

To be totally honest I can not compare it to other brands because I started doing my own tuning at the same time I found Hertel. Tognar might have something else just as good but I like this stuff and don't ever plan on switching.

I just started with the Hertel Hot Sauce too. Only have one day on it and I was happy with it. Granted it was a 3ft pow day at Bridger...I could still haul with it towards the end.
What I liked most about it so far is it wetts out into the base much better than some Swix, Dakine, Ethica/Hillbilly (actually way better than the Ethica). I'll be using it throughout the season exclusively on my board (and likely my gf's too) so I will be able to tell its all-purposeabilities later on. So far, I like its "tooling" (application and scraping).

One day last year it was about 10 below (farenhiet of course) and I had a little trouble that day. More than a little trouble, I could barely move. I just about went over the handlebars getting off the chairlift. But other than that day it's been at least usable.
