Gecko knows jay adams fairly well from surfing with him in HI (jay used to borrow his extra board and bum a ride cuz he just got out of jail and was boardless and carless).typical jay
this shot epitomizes what skating meant to me when I was a kid.
Jay's a pretty hard lookin' dude these days

Jay was cool when he was out and straight....I had a year of skating with him 2-3 times a week...I will always remember that time fondly. That said I can also see why he has always had authority problems, such creativity comes at a price.
Willy if you like the Hamboards you might wanna talk to Russ at Candy Spanks I played a bit on one of his monster boards very very nice

Sweet Vids Willy...wonder why they didn't include Rogowski in D.O.P.E.? I guess cuz of "Stoked". Same kind of story and all.
An American buddy of mine just raced in a slolom comp down in Brazil and had a blast!
It was interesting to get WR IV's take on Adams this summer, first person. There was a lot I didn't know about Jay's story.
Anyway - I skated a Hamboard this summer, with Exkate trucks, and while it was certainly fun, I found it to be kind of a novelty. It's so darn heavy. Guess I just prefer the responsiveness of a regular old longboard.

Just emailed you - I promised WR I wouldn't quote him directly publicly on any of this.

old article from the Village Voice
http://skateboarddirectory.com/articles/478338_mark_gator_rogowski-free.html
Rogowski pleaded guilty to rape and murder, and received a 31-year prison sentence. He will be eligible for parole in 2009.

Rick,
maybe fill me in as well.
Done.
Man, there were SO many times I could have gone down that road as a teen. I took the wrong turn a few times but never really got big time trouble, and managed to get the car back on the road. I know it sounds cliche - but I just said no, at the right times...and sports was always the thing that kept me focused and healthy. It worked for me, but not for them - obviously because of the fame and fortune...thank god I was a nobody with no money!

same here. Lots of diversions down some mean streets but almost always managed to do the right thing when it mattered most.
Lords Of Dogtown was kinda cheeseball but at least the story got told
