There appears to be a concavity beneath each of my bindings, as if they are sucking the base into them. This is my 6th or 7th time riding them. What's going on??

This effect is completely normal. It happens because as you tighten your screws it pulls up on the inserts and the rest of the board. Unfortunately this causes concavity, and sometimes leads to core warpage in that area.

One of the best things you can do for your board is to loosen the bindings when you wax. If you leave the bindings tight on the board when waxing, the suck will become deeper and more permanent. Hot waxing heats up the board and allows for plastic deformation of the board. If it's in tension when heated, you can induce semi permanent and permanent changes to the shape of the board.

Yeah, I was waxing for the first time yesterday and that's when I noticed. I'll be sure to take the bindings off next time. Does this happen with pretty much every board at one point or another?

from my experience, it happens to all the boards.
