Pow, there is no specific sign up for the ECES, loding at the above 2 accomodations have been pre-negociated for our ECES event. So yes you can call them today to make loding reservations.
Matt regarding tickets, my guess is that you can probably get a 7 or 8 day pass at the group rate. There is pricing for seniors and young kids as well. Jack and I still need to figure out how we will set up payment for tickets, that is still TBD.
Please keep in mind that the complete details are not finalized yet, we will have all the necessary details posted on our eces site.

tex1230
October 28th, 2007, 05:27 AM
They are building a new hotle and condos at the base of spruce, but I don't know if it's done yet. Stowe has a shuttle that runs through town every 15 minutes...really easy to get to the hill.
And there really aren't any bars/restaurants up by the base. everything you would want to do (non-sliding) is in the town.
GeoffV
October 28th, 2007, 10:00 AM
Buggs, I think the hotel is suppose to be completed for the 2008 season, I'd give Stowe a call regarding that, but expect to pay quite a bit more for a room there.
The rates that I'm offering or the best deals you can get in Stowe and are only a few miles from the mountain. If you are looking for upscale accommodations there plenty to choose.

You asked for Stowe and you got it :biggthump . We have a great raffle banquet planed with an award winning catering staff hosting it at Stowe.
I wanted to point out some specific cut off dates and details around lodging accommodations.
1. Raffle Banquet tickets must be purchased by 2/8/08. There will be no last minute ticket purchases at the door. Tickets can be purchased here: Banquet Raffle Dinner (http://www.eces.us/info.htm). Banquet dinner is Thursday, March 6th
2. Lodging is on a 1st come 1st serve basis, there are NO rooms blocked off for this event, so get your lodging booked early. Please reference the "ECES event" when calling the Golden Eagle Resort and the Village Green Condos to ensure special pricing.
3. Please check the ECES forum (http://www.eces.us/phpBB2/index.php) for any updates and questions.
4. Post questions on this thread or the ECES forum and answers will be posted.
Stowe is very excited to be hosting this event for the first time.

I'm sorry we cannot offer special pricing for kids for this event. With gratuity, 10% local tax and the site fee it has been difficult to keep the price down for this event. Offering another menu or pricing option for kids would raise the overall pricing per person.
The banquet dinner will be buffet style so you can pick and chose.
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the door prior to banquet.

David,
There is no fee to attend the ECES event, costs are related to lodging, lift tickets and the raffle banquet. There might be a one time fee associated with demoing gear to compensate the sponsors for their shipping costs. But we are still working on lining up sponsors for the event and details around that.
We will post more details as schedules and plans solidify.

That's right you heard it here first, we are talking neon, asym's, one piece suits. You know all the stuff we thought was cool in the 80's, pull it out of storage.
If you don't own an asym or one piece suit, get on eBay….
Pull those asym boards out of storage and off the walls, the poor things haven't been on snow in years, let them shine for one more day.

Either way if you get the TWS voucher or use the ECES vouchers,
I still need to provide Stowe with a total head count of how many are going to the ECES.
You will not be charged nor need to use the ECES vouchers, head count is more important for me.
Please at least do me that favor and add your self to the list for who's going. Please post on the voucher thread on the eces forum (http://www.eces.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6).

Hrm... many thanks to Stowe for the extra discount... and for the complication. We are in the process of re-negotiating our prices in light of this info.
And a correction - the "regular" price of a 3 day ticket is $210. The ECES price is (was) $133. We'll all get the $90/3-day deal one way or another, but I would advise anyone attending to buy a TWS just to be sure. We're talking with Stowe to try to get this deeper discount to ripple through the rest of our pricing.

I spoke with Stowe this morning and they are unable to match the TWS discount (this was a special promotional advertisement).
So here is what you should do:
1. If you are riding 3 days, bring the original page from TWS to get your 3 day pass (without the original page you will not get the discount)
2. If you are planning on riding more than 3 days use the TWS for the first 3 and get an ECES voucher for the additional days.
3. Either way I STILL NEED a list of who is coming regardless if you are using the TWS or ECES vouchers or a combo of (as noted in my previous post)
Stowe has provided some great discounts for the ECES compared to their regular rates. Stowe's pre-season one day pass is at $79 right now and will go up to $84 during peak season  . So having a 5 day pass at $40 per day is a 48% discount :biggthump

Geoff - since I live up here, and work during the week, I'll only be coming for the riding on the 8th and 9th and will either already have a Stowe pass, or will use the TWS deal...and I'll stick around for Saturday evening's activities of course. Jest letting you know. :biggthump
Sorry to cause any confusion with the TWS info...that wasn't my intent of course.
Side note: as if it's not already good enough that we can go see a World Cup PGS at Whiteface March 3rd, then have the ECES at Stowe - The Boss is playing at the Bell Centre in Montreal March 2nd for you Springsteen fans...what a week!

BadBrad, I'd put your self on the list for an ECES voucher regardless, just to be safe. There is no upfront cost and if you do plan to show up last minute at least you're still guaranteed the discount on a pass. Also check the accommodations thread on the ECES forum (in my sig) to see if people are looking for last minute roomies.

Well, the cutoff date for the Village Green is Feb 3. The Golden Eagle didn't give us a cutoff date, probably because they know they'll be sold out anyway.
The cutoff for the banquet is Feb 8.
<b>However...</b> the big thing is, as we've stated, there is no block of accommodations being held for us. First come first served, we're in competition with the general public.

LET'S GET IT ON... It's official. I have just confirmed with Fin.... the winner of the ECES retro day will go head to head against the winner of the SES retro day in an online poll here at BOL. Best outfit on the continent to be decided by BOL members... winner to receive a special prize tba.
FABULOUS PRIZES... I assume you already know about the board giveaways by DONEK, COILER, VIRUS... but the Stoweflake has just offered a 2-night stay including breakfast and dinner... a prize package worth over $1000. Thank you Stoweflake!!
DON'T DELAY... The cutoff for the raffle banquet is fast approaching, and we will lose our shirts if we don't get enough people signed up. Worst case, we'd have to cancel. Don't let this happen! This is your event!

This is huge, I cannot stress this enough, we NEED 80 people to sign up for the banquet, right now we are not even close to that with only 10 signed up this for :angryfire . If Jack and I end up having to pay the difference that will pretty much seal the deal for any future ECES events.
For this years ECES Banquet Dinner we are offering more "Huge" prizes than we have ever been able to offer at any ECES's and the odds of winning one of those are VERY good.
Planning the ECES is literally like planning a wedding, so please do Jack and I a favor and sign up for the event soon. I started planning for the event in March 2006 and we are still working on it.
I have been warned just this week by Golden Eagle and Village Green that people need to make their reservations soon because rooms are filling fast and both resorts CANNOT hold rooms for us.

I am going to be at Killington from Sunday to Tuesday and planning to drive up to Stowe on Wednesday morning. I will be driving back to New Jersey on either Friday night or Saturday morning(probally Saturday morning if i can find a cheap place for 1 night). The place I booked is $145 a night on Friday. Mabye i could be convinced to drive back via Albany. Plus if you can make it up to Killington you can ride along up to Stowe.
PS Today I did see your post in ECES forum

Did you call Golden Eagle Resort? A Friday night stay is almost half what your paying at $80 per night just mention the ECES event.
Thats where I have booked and I got the ECES rate. $80 is the rate for Sun-Thurs for 1 or 2 nights. Fri and Sat is $145 a night. This is consistant with what you have on the ECES site.

Question:
I just got a job at the Ritz Carlton Central Park in NYC, and they have insane discounts for Ritz and Mariott hotels. The nearest Mariott place is in Burlington, VT, which is about 20 miles from Stowe.
How is the parking there? Is it worth it to stay in Burlington and drive to Stowe for a significantly reduced price?
tex1230
January 18th, 2008, 09:56 AM
Parking at stowe is pretty easy - never had a problem and I've been there at very busy times.
Burlington is more than 20 minutes away - closer to 45 minutes to an hour each way depending on weather

I live in Burlington, and 45 mins is the minimum, especially if you're going to stay at any Marriott properties downtown. The Residence/Courtyard inns in Williston chop about 15 minutes off that time in each direction, but you'll hit traffic again coming off 89 in Waterbury, up into Stowe, and then on the access road - and if it's a good snow day, there will be traffic, weekday or no.

That is a great idea but honestly I don't have the time to coordinate coming up with a total of $350 from various parties, the ECES is taking up hours each day of my already limited free time.

Hey Geoff,
We can use my PayPal account for the closed trail shares as per Eddie's suggestion.
I suggest share prices should be $10ea. and people can buy multiple shares if they want.
I can post the share count as we get closer to the event and if we don't make it, we can issue refunds.
Feel free to post this over at BOL.
My PayPal ID is: 2wheel at comcast dot net.
FYI – PayPal charges a fee for receiving money. We’d need approximately 40 shares to cover the trail.

Gleb, sorry you'll miss most of the week, looks like you'll need a few drinks after that hell week you'ev been through:eplus2:
Matt Roth (tex1230) wanted to do a keg as well, but most bars wouldn't allow it so he is just buying some rounds for everyone. You can do the same thing if you are serious about it.
Aww that sucks. I guess I ll do just that then. At least that hell week will have a nice pay off. Im pretty stoked for this. See ya guys there!

What days are the vendors going to be there with the demo gear?

<b><u>Banquet:</b></u>
We've got 55 people signed up for the banquet/raffle, but over 70 signed up for lift ticket vouchers.... sooo..... we negotiated an extension for <b>Monday 2/18/2008</b> to get in on the banquet. Go to www.eces.us/info.htm for instructions on signing up and payment. After 2/18 we cannot accept latecomers or walk-ups. You don't want to miss this. We have 4 boards and 4 pairs of bindings to give away among other goodies.
<b><u>Demos</b></u>
No formal demos. Sorry. Due to Bomber not being able to attend and the current litigious climate of this society, we will not be operating formal demos at the ECES. HOWEVER.... Donek <i>might</i> be sending some boards anyway, Bruce from Coiler will be present and possibly packing a quiver of loaners, and you never know if Madd Mike will show up with a stack. IN ANY CASE, demos will be <i>strictly</i> off the record, at your own risk, and at the discretion of the individual loaning out boards. We will have a tent or two and some chairs/workbenches to serve as the session "base station" for hanging out, swapping gear, talking schmack, cat-calling passing NYC snowbunnies, etc.
Bomber is set up with insurance and gear for operating demos. They have done it for us in the past, and we are hugely bummed they can't make it due to their ongoing situation. We asked Startingate to step in, but they declined.
*Ace*
February 11th, 2008, 10:03 AM

Demos might be available but not through 'Bomber'.

Jack, this is Gary Longley from the Startingate. Sorry that Startingate isnt able to run the demo tent up at the Stowe event. The short notice, being very busy and having a very trimmed down staff leaves us unable to get away. I hope something works for you and the riders. Bombers problems hopefully resolve themselves without to much trauma to the company and they will be able to continue with the event in the future. If you ever would consider Stratton again it would make much more sense for Startingate to paticipate possibly in the future. Take care. Gary

As a fossilized East Coast hardbooter and long-time Bomber lurker, I still hope to make it up for ECES. Still don't know if that'll happen, though.
In any event, I'll PayPal you some $$ at month's end to help cover any banquet shortfall or other event deficiencies. Should I actually make it up to Stowe, my out-of-shapeness will dictate considerable down time, and I'll be happy to volunteer some hours @ the demo tent if it's needed/allowed.
Will also have one of the TWS three-fer ticket pages available if I have to remain in the "land that knows no winter."

Unfortunately, packing up took longer than we expected and we didnt get there today until a little after 9... and when we got there the lack of lift service had us puzzled as to where you guys all were:confused: we went the day without seeing another trencher, but laid a lot of good tracks of our own. A bit hard in some places, but overall it was pretty decent for carving. No pics here really, although i might get some stills from some videos. Thanks Geoff, the village green was awesome!

March 9th, 2008, 05:58 PM
I got there a bit late, but I guess it didn't matter since the lifts were closed because of the 50 mph wind. Last night, we were drinking on a limo and at a bar in boston for my friend's bday and with no sleep, it was a rough ride up. Now, factor the wind almost blowing my car off the road...the overall ride totally sucked.
Met up with angie for a few runs, and got to meet clebner. He has the worst luck in the world. Not only was it an agonizing adventure to get to Stowe (see post 206 in this thread), but his key broke for his box where all his gear is. That kind of frustration would have me going nuts. Hope your trip home is going to be a bit better.
The carving was pretty good today, minus the cold and wind, and me forgetting my face mask. A guy took pictures of me for a newspaper in Burlington, but I told him that he's way better off asking you guys for some pictures from the event.
Hope to meet you guys at the next one in 2 years or so. The next one should be at Sunday River, Loon, or Cannon, so its easier to get to for people from boston :biggthump :)
