Might be heading to App tomorrow or Sunday if they can get the top of Big Appal open. If you've never been to app, its the slope in front of the lodge. (it's a big place, so I want to be sure you know where you can find me) :D

My main ride is a Donek 179 but have 2 new customs coming soon/

I haven't been up there yet, I'll definitely be there for Dec 28th-New Years weekend... Maybe pondering going up next weekend for some riding. Gf wants to make the changeover from skis so I think she will be start on soft boots so it doesn't break her on her first weekend out. Hard boots... maybe later for her if she enjoys having her feet strapped to a board!

I have one set of td-1 standard bindings on one of those boards so it will addjust to your boots/ I have step ins on the others

according to AAA, it only adds 1/2 hr to go through richmond rather than greensboro, so yeah, i go through richmond, if that means we can carpool some:D

Snowshoe Mountain/Dec.
Went to the shoe this past weekend: Sorry to say it was poor/ but then again it’s the east coast & early yet. They predicted a big snowstorm Saturday night/ did not happen/ freezing rain instead/ all night! Sunday Am 16 degrees & started snowing/ so what we had was a Popsicle with about a ½ inch of snow on top of it. Not suitable for carving but desire made me try it anyway. Started at Silver creek as its always better for turning/ not this time/ they had 3 slopes open which were poor! Second half of the day, went to Snow shoe side on a all mountain board/ conditions were much better on that side/ I guess they have worked on it longer. It could have been carve-able earlier/ on a short board/it was very crowded & the groom was gone by mid day! Snowed pretty hard most of the day Sunday/ but high winds blew most of in over into the woods! It was better than nothing/ but I will wait awhile before I go again/ Hopefully Old Man Winter will catch up to my desires!
He has a-lot of work to do…………..as always Their snow report is a-little ahhhhhhhh you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m waiting on 2 new custom Coilers being shipped this week/ as soon as I receive them I will want to get them wet ASAP So depending when they hit my door-step I’m heading up/ I’m at Shamrock 27.. I ride at the creek most of the time Cascade & the few runs next to it! I ware black helmet/ different jacket every day/ keep them guessing LOL New boards are red!
I’m excited about the boards/ Bruce is Magical when it comes to board building/ when you try one/ you’re hooked! First class all the way!

My brother Jeff and I (Chris) will be at the Inn at Snowshoe, probably spend most of our time at the Creek. He has a black helmet, and will be on a white Hot Blast. I think I'll be in a blue-n-white helmet (hopeful christmas gift!) on my red/black Sims Burner split-tail. Should not be too hard to spot us as we will be two of the few riding hardboots, and undoubtedly the only two south asian hardbooters.

If you're on an FRS radio, give us a shout on channel 7-11.

Besides/ I could not do that to ya This close to Christmas when I'm sure you have spent so much Money/ like I said; when You ride one of Bruce's creations/ you will want one/ could put a dent in your bank account/ you may put your scuba gear in the Pawn shop/ or get your wife or girlfriend a second job!

after my hockey game, then leave early tues morn for 6+ hr drive so i can work at 3pm..... and that is all provided that i feel better.... i got food poisoning at app, from a freakin veggie sub! e.coli, and today is really the first day ive left bed, except for the trip to urgent care for fluids/drugs.

Silver Creek wasn't bad, not the best it's been, but what do you expect with the screwy weather? Saturday was pretty soft in the afternoon and it got really hard by night time, felt a little bit like a skating rink. Plus it was choppy since the slushy afternoon had pushed a lot of snow around which then froze in some "interesting" arrangements.
Sunday afternoon/evening it felt essentially like sugar on top of glass. Light fluffy stuff on top of ice. Couldn't really dig much of an edge in it. Monday it was hard, but there was just enough of a hint of softness that you could force the edge to bite and lay it over. I heard they got bombed with snow later in the week though... LOL

46 yrs and my newest board is an old Burton Amp 6 that I picked up last year at a ski swap. Figured it would be great for traffic and crud but haven't really even got a chance to ride it yet. It was in almost new shape, not surprising considering that the plate bindings were set-up with as wide a duck foot as could be set, offset al the way to the heel edge on front and all the way to the toe edge on the back, lol

Yesterday I shopped a little & did the hot tub carved 1.5 hrs at the end of day after Powder was packed as with the day before/ today was sunny/ fresh groom everywhere! Rode all day/ my legs are jello! I'm going to ride about 3 hrs Thursday AM then pack up & go!

Last weekend at SC was AWESOME.

Saturday- no lift lines, sunny, 40+ degrees, not many people, snow felt a little hard at first, but with a good edge on the board (luckily I sharpened the night before) you could pretty much crank turns as hard as you wanted. The slightly granular top layer seemed to keep top speed down a little, but the snow held really well for carving. Gf got some great photos, I'll try and post them up later. Pretty cool, a couple runs I did I was literally the only person on the slope. Lots of space to carve, pretty much a perfect day.

Sunday- a little cooler, overcast, flat light but no fog. snow was a tad harder than saturday, but still pretty good. My legs were burned up from saturday though, couldn't ride hard for too long on sunday before they started getting a little sloppy.

Snow pretty good/ but can change every day!
I was up there last week / Sunday was high wind/ crowed/ they closed many lifts on snowshoe side/ forcing the masses to Silver Creek,, I only rode about 1.5 hrs Too many people/groom stunk! Monday Am woke up to 4 below/ it was one below when the rope dropped / had a heat wave to 22/ it was a awesome day/ Sunny/ crisp squeaky very fast snow! Awesome groom! Sunday night snowed 3 inches, overcast day, they groomed the easy 1/2 of the Snowshoe, it was great as was Silver Creek! Tue. Rained most of the night so I packed it up in the Am & came home----Warm ... Looking at the forecast/ cold again Tue & wed so I’m going!!!!!!!! Conditions can change in a day!

Looks like my buddy from work is going to back out, this will most likely eliminate me as well because I can't afford to foot the hotel bill by myself. We were going to stay at the Silver Creek lodge for 2 nights.

I'm thinking of heading to Wisconsin, as I have family there, and can stay for free. Not sure about what to do yet.

I am not familiar with the shoe - can you guys name a time and place to meet either sat/sun or both and I will make every attempt to be there..... I am staying slopeside in the "mountain lodge" I think it is called..... Sat night will be at the moonshine bar from 4-7ish for the SkiSoutheast party - if you show up I might be able to get you free lift tickets for Sunday.

On sun first tracks are by the soaring eagle lift at 8:15

oh and don't know if you can do this now, but "Make reservation online and enter the code MWD100 to receive $100 off your lodging package. (Must be a two or more night stay" I think you can call and tell them that you forgot to mention this deal if you have your reservations!

Mr. Yellow
The south end of the mountain has steeper pitch/ (Widow-maker area) not always groomed & it gets bumped up quickly.
Mid- mountain is a mixture!
The North end is more gentle & better for carving. (Log slide etc.) Western territory has 2 long steep runs/ I enjoy them on a free ride board/ but want nothing to do with them on a long Alpine stick
Snowshoe side is larger, more diverse & more popular, which translates into crowds.
Silver creek is smaller, more family orientated; better groom/ less crowded/ wider runs.
More carver friendly / at least most of the time!
Explore / ride it all.. I’m driving up early Sunday Morning, How about meeting in Silver creek lodge/ first floor in front of Misty’s sport bar 10;00 I should have my ducks in a row/ armed & dangerous by then. Red Coiler in hand. Let’s ride. Hopefully you can catch Petrol also!

didnt get back from steamboat till 1 am fri/sat... worked on sat, still recovering from my trip to steamboat.... rode waist deep for so many days that my legs are toast, so i went rock climbing today. bonus being that ski-babe finally realized why i love snowboarding so much, took a lesson and was linking turns on greens by the end of day one... and her instructor was even teaching them the diff btw skidding and carving... i wanna move to CO.

Recon, I was out in the blizzard like conditions saturday riding my butt off. Absolutely loved it!

well, it didn't all start off that good though...

Checked in at SilverCreek, unloaded the Expedition (my wife & daughter packed WAY to much junk, I hardly had room for the four snowboards I brought to ride, lol). Anyway, I ran down to get a few runs in while they were settling in, plopped down my older Alp 170, snapped in my front foot and broke my rear binding trying to get my back foot in... DAMN!
I hoofed it back to the Expy and grabbed my 'new-2-me' Burton Ultra Prime... Holy Cow! That thing Rails!
Suzanne & Taylor had had enough by 3:00 but I rode until they kicked me out at 9:00.

I got back out for first tracks at SilverCreek and it was awesome being the only one on the lifts and runs, I bet I got in 20 laps in an hr. But they 'moved' Taylors snowboard lesson from SilverCreek to the Shaver center at Snowshoe, so we then had to pack up, check out and drive over to the Shoe, where we spent the rest of the day.

Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with you or Mellow, but I was on the snow every possible minute and sure did keep my eyes open looking for another hardbooter all weekend.... and saw none.

Had a great time, never got to ride my 'new-2-me' Rossi 166... I guess I 'could' have rode it for first tracks Sunday morning as the groom was pretty good, but that's about it because it's nose is so freaking short and low, I'd be afraid to take it into ANY crud, chop or bumps...

I guess that what next weekends for :D

Sorry I missed you Petrol on Sunday/ I was having a bad day with severe back pain/ so ridding suffered! Met Mellow Yellow/ sort of did one run with him/ then I went to get a shorter board/ then could not find him again/ he had 2 carve babes from NC up here with him/ I heard they were on the mountain on Monday/ but I could not find them! Monday was pretty good/ Soft groom! very nice/ but flat light! I had a great day Monday! Today good groom but hard as a rock! I did 2 runs then stopped/ going back out in a couple hrs hoping it is softer! Ok it was softer after lunch/ had some pretty good runs/ also met a pretty impressive ski-babe so Im glad I did not leave early!!!!

Yeah, I waited up at the shack for about 10 min and gave up... never did meet up with my carve patrol. Waited a few more for you to show and started to think you may have headed for the Shoe.... I had to jet at noon so I caught the bus, ran Cupp once and played at the Shoe until right around noon....
