Hi,
Do you know which boards don't support rigid bindings whith central disk (like TD1 and TD2) ?
I've seen on bomber site an article about some boards which core isn't enougth strong for this kind of bindings.
Is it ok with a hot blast ?
Thanks

burton snowboards won't hold up, especially the yellow ultra prime

The td 2's have a larger central mounting disk and this greatly reduces the stress on a boards inserts and core. As far as the td 1's go, in my opinion it's a gamble on any production board if you ride at a high level.

the race coach i had when i was training at mt. hood (nick colavito, some of you might know him) refused to have anything to do with the TDs because of their stiffness, and he mentioned how many board that he has seen broke by them. i would assume that must steel cap board would not only accept the TDs, but facilitate an extremely powerful riding style for some crazy freecarving (us racers need some flex under our legs)

It sounds like we both had the same experience. I had a Rossi 160 X-Vas that split at the rear binding. I was lucky to buy it brand new considering they've been out of production for so long but after a month of riding earlier this year it failed. I have just received a replacement board, a 163 Slayer which sounds like the yellow and black board that you are riding. I haven't ridden it yet and was wondering how it performs.

If you use a TD1 with a Donek, you need to put something between the disk and the board (I think either Bomber or Donek will provide you with some thin p-tex disks for this purpose). If you don't, the metal disk tends to cut through the topsheet of the board.
That's what happened to me, and it ended up ruining the whole board.

Different board. Mine is the 2001 world cup, 184. its good, but it took some time to get used to the length, coming off of boards in the 160s to 170s. also, it has the characteristic rossignol dampening, which makes the board feel a lot less responsive than say, the Volkls i Had been on.
as for the X-VAS break, I broke mine by getting thrown forward. It split right across the front binding. Talk about livid. It was a long walk down the hill...

I have been riding my Coiler PR 184 with Cateks (WCC) for three seasons now - not a problem.
The bindings are set-up normally and I don't even have a mark on the topsheet of the Coiler.
I guess Bruce builds the best proforming and bullet-proof boards around.
All the best,
Rob
