I rode with noah yesterday and he raves about his Tornado 173. Evidently, Nidecker makes some serious alpine boards but has no US distributorship. Anybody ride this board ? He was killing it on it.

I have a Nidecker Tornado GS 163 (I think). I'm not that good with it but I can't blame the board. I got it at All Board Sports in Boulder, Colorado.

Bomber sells Nideckers but only the GS boards. Maybe Michelle can order you a Tornado.

I have the 183 of that board. It's a real handful at my weight/skill level, but late in the season when I have my $hit together, I like to take it up. The 183 has about a 15 meter scr, so I'm happiest using it on midweek days when the slopes are open.

For me, riding at 150 lbs., it's very stiff, snappy and lively, but with great edgehold. When I'm on the top of my game, it elevates my skills well beyond my capabilities on other boards, but it's intolerant of mistakes. In comparison with my Oxy Proton 172, it's much more likely to reach up and smack me on the head when I do something wrong, am not fully-committed, or lose focus.

Fun ride!

I put in a lot of time on that board as well as the 183. The 173 was a little limp for my taste, but a blast to ride. The 183 on the other hand felt solid no matter what I did.

I still have a buddy who rides the 173 and he rips on it. He loves that board. Tornado or not, the board that you pictured is the GS board. I think that they just dropped the name, but I could be wrong.

No more Tornado. That was history a few years back.
Its GS or SL now.

Yep. Actually "Custom GS" or SL now. US distributor was in Vista, CA. Now they're just up the street from me in Ogden, UT. As was said above, Fin is probably as good a resource as you're gonna get.

I have plenty of time on a variety of Customs and Tornados - fun decks! '99/'00 was the last season under the "Tornado" name.

ahh, that explains why they want to sell them so bad!
full on metal like the Priors, Kesslers and coilers or metal like the volkls (as in it's there but does ot do anything)

FYI, the Starting Gate at Stratton carries Nidecker. They have for quite a while.

I rode that board for several years. It was a fantastic board until I broke it.
