May be moving back to Norhtern Cali. Looking for a club or team that offers great race training facilities. Looking to start seriously competing again. Thanks.

Brodster,

Give me a shout via email if you want to chat about this. There are a few options. One is racing in something called Open League for one of the clubs. I race for Apres, which is a singles club, but there are also clubs for married folks. It is fun and somewhat competitive in the top level. We race snowboard gates for SL and race with the skiers on GS days. There are 8 races/season plus Regional and Far West finals.

Another option is USASA. They run two series in Tahoe. North and South Shore. I've only entered 1 north shore race, but it was fun and there was more competition. It could be better organized, but they usually manage to get the race off at some point during the day. Unfortunately many of their dates conflict with Open League so I haven't had a chance to run many races. Plus they often race at tiny little areas that I don't like to spend a whole day riding (like Donner Ski Ranch and Boreal).

We'd love to have more competitors in Open League. Let me know if you want more info.

BTW, are you Brody Mahoney?

Mort,

Is coaching at Squaw - go to:

http://www.squaw.com/winter/raceteam.html

And check it out.

Hope that this helps and I do hope that you make it back out to NorCal.

I saw Mort this weekend at the Jeep King of the Mountain race at Squaw. He definitely has a team. It is mostly younger racers, but I'm pretty sure he'll accept all age groups. They often have courses set up for either practice or coin-op practice.

FYI, Donald = Mort Nyberg.

Mort also races many of the USASA races.
