Does anyone know of a shop that rents or sells carving boards in the Tahoe area? I plan to get my first carving board this year and would like to get some help from someone in the local area.

For brand new gear, call Dave's in Tahoe City and find out what they have. Tri-City in Fremont has Burton Speeds for 1/2 off list.
Lots of new gear is available on the web. Do you know what size, make and model? Check out the used gear for better deals.

Hey Randy... check out www.tahoecarvers.com, it's a hardboot community for people that ride in Lake Tahoe. I just joined the group this season myself. They have a marketplace section that often has decent deals on used equipment.

Randy,
Dave's in Tahoe City still has some Burton boots, boards and bindings they rent. If you just want to try carving, that's a great way to go (assuming they have your size). Also, I have a spare pair of size 9 and size 10 boots, plus some extra bindings and a baord that are part of the TahoeCarvers (http://www.tahoecarvers.com) demo fleet. Email me offline if you want to try those for a day or two. I'm on the north shore most weekends and ride at Alpine mostly, but get to Northstar sometimes and will be at Squaw this weekend for the Jeep King of the Mountain.
Dave's will probably sell you any of that Burton equipment if you find you like it. Also, it looks like either Elite Feet at Squaw Creek or Totally Board in Truckee will be stocking some carving equipment next season. Elite Feet is looking into stocking Head boots. That would be awesome because then you could buy them and get them fitted in the same place.
Anyway, track us down on www.tahoecarvers.com and someone will probably be able to hook you up.

Now there's something you don't hear every day. Out of curiosity, do you know what made them decide to cary carving boots? Is demand picking up? I did notice more carvers at tahoe last time I was up there.
